The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 105

Chapter 105

講話

Her smile lingers for a moment. Then she slowly turns her head toward Bastian, and the warmth vanishes from her face with startling speed. Her eyes harden as she fixes him with such a sharp look that even I feel a chill run down my spine

“And you… don’t make the same foolish mistake your grandfather did. That… woman also called herself his friend One night she sneaked into this castle, climbed into my bed after drugging him with a potion… and you already know how that story ended. That woman is not your friend. She’s spent decades wanting to take your mate’s place. Don’t be an idiot Open your eyes for once.”

Bastian sighs wearily and shakes his head.

“Grandma, that’s not how it is. She…”

Sonia doesn’t let him finish.

She takes another step toward him, and although she never raises her voice, the authority of a former queen fills the vast hall.

“Yes, it is. I know she-wolves disguised as foxes far too well. For someone who’s such a brilliant leader, you’re remarkably stupid when it comes to realizing that many of the people around you want far more than they’re willing to admit.”

Her words hang in the air.

Bastian doesn’t answer, but neither does he try to defend Nadia.

He doesn’t even argue with his grandmother. He simply lowers his head for a few seconds, clenches his jaw, and lets out a long sigh.

He seems to be going over every conversation, every unexpected visit, and all those little details he’d chosen to ignore until

now.

When he finally looks up again, his expression has changed. Worry and doubt now cloud his face.

“I’ll look into it.”

Sonia snorts in obvious disapproval and folds her arms across her chest.

“There’s nothing to look into. A woman’s intuition usually sees long before you men stop pretending not to. Celine noticed it from the very beginning, and she’s only been in this kingdom for a few days”

Her words make Bastian slowly turn his gaze toward me. He doesn’t say anything, but I can clearly see the weight of guilt reflected in his eyes.

I’ll take your advice, Grandma.”

She nods, satisfied with his answer. I take the opportunity to offer her a small smile of gratitude. Not only had she put Nadia in her place, she’d also said out loud everything I’d been thinking for days.

“Good. Now go do whatever it is you need to do. I want to speak with your mate about something that doesn’t concern you.”

Grandma smiles at him kindly, but a brief flash of gold crosses her eyes, and it says everything.

She doesn’t want him hovering around us.

Bastian seems to realize it immediately. His lips curve into a resigned smile before he finally nods.

“All right. I’ll go check on Grandpa, then. You two enjoy your conversation.”

1 let out a quiet sigh, silently grateful that he’d decided to go see Silas, because that was exactly what I had planned to do before Nadia showed up to ruin my morning.

I wait until Bastian disappears down the wide corridor, and only after he vanishes around a corner does Somia gently take my arm with almost motherly tenderness and lead me down one of the castle’s long hallways.

We walk at an unhurried pace.

Our footsteps echo softly across the stone floor as we make our way through a completely deserted corridor./Towering windows line both sides, allowing the pale winter light to spill in and illuminate the walls covered with old portraits of the Thorn family. After everything that happened only minutes ago, the castle feels strangely quiet.

When we reach the end of the hallway, Sonia turns right and stops in front of a pair of tall glass doors. She pushes one of. them open, and a rush of cool air carrying the scent of damp earth and dried leaves immediately surrounds us.

My eyes wander around the room with curiosity.

It’s a greenhouse.

A huge one.
