Chapter 11
1 stay silent for several seconds. Not out of fear, but because of how ridiculous his last question sounds.
“Answer me, Celine. Do you want him?”
I shift in my seat and lower my gaze to my hands. My fingertips are cold.
Breathe in, hold it, let it out. Bastian doesn’t stop looking at me, and I feel like the temperature inside the truck dropped a hundred degrees.
“No.” I answer without looking at him.
“Then what is it? You already accepted being my mate, I’m being polite, considerate and, by the Moon, I’m controlling myself more than I ever have in my entire life.” He growls again. Both he and his wolf are far too possessive. “Why the hell are you asking about another man, Celine?”
“What? No! I just want to know what he wanted, I’m not interested in him. Aren’t you and I supposed to be bonded now?”
His expression softens, just a little. But it doesn’t last.
“I don’t like you asking about another man. What I discussed with that useless fool is none of your business, understand that. You are mine now and nobody is going to touch you or get close to you.”
I shake my head, genuinely upset now, though I don’t show it. I step out of the truck and walk away quickly. The cold air hits my face and I press my lips tightly together. I don’t want him to see me cry. My eyes burn and I can feel the tears beginning to gather.
For a moment, I think he’ll turn around and drive back the way we came, but I hear the door open and slam shut behind
As much as I try to walk faster, he catches up to me and steps in front of me. I stop, but I don’t look at him. I turn my face away to wipe my tears with the sleeve of my shirt.
“I’m sorry. Please don’t cry.”
I swallow the knot in my throat and feel him trying to touch me. I step back instinctively, not out of fear.
Bastian lets out a heavy sigh and tries again. This time I don’t move away.
“I didn’t mean to…” He pauses and looks upward, as if searching for patience in the sky. “Forgive me. I’m a brute.”
“And an idiot too, Prince Thorn. I’m not some random woman. I’m not going to run after another man.” My eyes burn again and I can no longer stop the tears. “Do you really think that? Because if you do, this isn’t going to work. Words hurt harder than a lash.”
Bastian’s expression is the same one any person would wear after being terribly offended. His brows slowly furrow and the hand resting at the side of my waist tenses slightly.
“What did you call me, Celine?” Even his voice changed considerably.
The cold wind moves a few strands of my hair and the tears continue sliding hot down my cheeks. I wipe my face quickly, embarrassed to be crying in front of him again.
“I called you an idiot, Prince Thorn.” I murmur, my throat tight. “Because you were one.”
Bastian opens his mouth, but says nothing. His dark eyes slowly lower to my face and I see the exact moment he notices my tears. The tension in his jaw eases just slightly and his fingers stop tightening.

The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon
The silence between us becomes strange. Heavy.
Behind Bastian, the lights of the small village faintly illuminate the dirt road and the distant sound of voices drifts through the wind.
“I didn’t mean to make you feel that way.” His voice comes out much lower this time.
I swallow with difficulty and turn my gaze toward the trees.
“Then don’t treat me like I am.”
Bastian lets out a slow, tired sigh. His fingers brush against my wrist carefully this time, as if he’s overthinking every movement before making it.
“I don’t know how to do this properly, Celine.” He admits after a few seconds. The wind gently moves his dark hair while he keeps his eyes fixed on me. “I never had to worry about saying the right thing. People simply obey. I also don’t know how to properly treat a woman, I usually just…”
I don’t want to hear what he does with them.
I quickly raise my hand, silencing him.
Bastian immediately falls quiet and the awkward silence settles between us again.
A small, sad laugh escapes my throat.
“Well… I’m not one of your warriors, Prince Thorn.” I wipe my tears away with the sleeve of my shirt. “We’re a couple now and I don’t want to hear about what you used to do with other she-wolves either.”
