The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 117

Chapter 117

He won’t.

“We came to support Moon Celine before the Mating Ceremony, Your Majesty, but it’s also true that we’ve come to ask our future Queen to show mercy and allow us to remain in the kingdom so we can make this place our family’s home.”

Bastian walks over to me and extends his hand. I take it without taking my eyes off Beatriz, allowing him to help me to my feet. His fingers close gently around mine, filling me with a sense of calm that only he can awaken in me.

“And what have you decided, my love?” he asks calmly.

“I’ve exiled them to the human world.”

The faintest smile tugs at Silas’s lips, while Magnus lets out a deep laugh that is anything but amused. It’s a laugh laced with mockery, almost disbelief, as though my decision had exceeded even his own expectations.

“In that case, the matter is settled. You may leave Lemuria forever.”

“Celine, please…” Beatriz rises to her feet as well, her desperation impossible to hide. She takes a step toward us but stops the instant she sees Thomas and Jared immediately stiffen their stance.

“No.”

That single word is enough to extinguish the last spark of hope still lingering in her eyes.

“We’ll live anywhere, I swear. We’ll never bother you again.”

“The southern region of the kingdom could use more hardworking people,” Bastian remarks calmly, never taking his eyes off the two women.

Anyone familiar with Lemuria knows exactly what those words mean. Until very récently, the south had been the most neglected region in the kingdom. The land is harsh, the winters are endless, and the cold seeps into your bones from sunrise until sunset. No one survives there without working with their own hands.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Everyone in the hall understands the true meaning behind that proposal.

A faint smile crosses my lips before I turn back to Bastian.

“They don’t know what work means, sweetheart. They’ve spent their entire lives living off other people’s efforts. They don’t even deserve to share that place with the humble people of the south, because they know what sacrifice is and understand the value of honest work.”
