Chapter 130
**Celine**
Grandfather Silas, and everyone else, had been completely wrong about the wolves of the human world. They’re not so different from us. They live in houses, have friends, build families, and support one another. To my growing unease, I discover they don’t attack strangers simply because they can.
I’m living proof of that.
Darien found me in the middle of a storm and brought me into his home without asking a single question. Valeria, who also turned out to be a terrible she-wolf, hasn’t stopped taking care of me since I woke up. Despite being heavily pregnant, she. insists on looking after me as though I were a welcome guest instead of a complete stranger.
And then there’s Vladimir, the warlock.
He arrived in a terrible mood, complaining because someone had interrupted his… activities, yet he still answered Dariens call without wasting a single minute.
Why would they do something like that for someone they don’t even know?
The answer is simple.
It was enough for me to say that I’m from Lemuria and that terrible wolf blood runs through my veins as well.
And besides…
I mentioned a certain warlock whom, judging by Vladimir’s own words, he seems to despise with all his heart. I also told him what Johan wanted to do with my blood.
Apparently, the feeling between the two of them is entirely mutual.
“I’m sure everyone else will be here any minute now, but I’d like you to come with me so we can get you into some dry clothes. You could catch a cold, and that wouldn’t be good for the baby.” Valeria stands with her husband’s help and smiles as she offers me her hand. “We’re the same size.”
“I don’t want to trouble you any more than I already have, Mrs. Valeria.”
“Just call me Valeria. And you’re not a bother.”
“Too late.” Vladimir snaps his fingers, and a pleasant warmth washes over me from head to toe. “My mother’s about to arrive. Tell me… what’s your favorite color?”
Vlad! That’s terribly rude!”
“Black.” I answer without giving it much thought.
A second later, every trace of dampness disappears. My soaked clothes vanish, replaced by a pair of black jeans, a thick sweater, and sneakers.
All black.
I look down at myself for a few moments, surprised. I didn’t even have time to feel embarrassed.
I simply smile at him.
He nods.
“Thank you… I think.”
Another portal opens in front of us, and a woman of average height, dressed entirely in white, steps through it with the calm confidence of someone accustomed to defying the laws of the world.
Yes.
She must be Vladimir’s mother.
The resemblance between them is unmistakable. They share the same refined features, the same confident expression, and that commanding presence that demands attention the moment they enter a room. The difference lies in their eyes. While Vladimir has striking gray eyes, hers are a vivid green, cold and extraordinarily observant.
“Forgive my delay. I was in a meeting in Argentina and couldn’t leave any sooner,” the newly arrived woman says.
She walks toward me slowly, without a trace of expression on her face.
“My name is Larissa, and you are… a foreigner. What is your name?” She begins circling me at an unhurried pace, like a shark studying its prey, never taking her eyes off me for a single second. “How did you come to these lands?”
“Mother… don’t frighten her. You can be quite terrifying when you act like this.”
“Karin and the others are waiting at Valeria’s estate.” Larissa completely ignores her son’s comment, glancing at him only briefly. “Go get them.”
“And why didn’t you go get them yourself?” Vladimir complains as he opens another portal.
“Because I want to speak with her alone.”
