The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon
Chapter 139
i let out a weary sigh. My breath fogs in front of my face before disappearing into the wind. If I stand still much longer. I’ll end up freezing, and even though my wolf is saying things that make no sense to me, I’m relieved to feel her again. At least she’s talking to me. She’s standing again. She no longer seems to be suffering the way she did over the past few days
“Let me move. Just trust Ine.”
I nod without realizing it, as if someone could actually see me, and slowly loosen my control over my body.
Astra doesn’t walk.
She makes us run.
We leap over snow-covered fallen logs, dodge massive boulders, and race through the forest with a confidence that sends chills down my spine. She doesn’t hesitate for a single second. Not once does she slow down to look for a path.
She knows exactly where she’s going.
“Where are we, Astra?”
For a few seconds, she doesn’t answer.
“I don’t know who Astra is.”
The voice echoes inside my head with an unfamiliar certainty.
“Stop calling me that.”
She pauses briefly before saying words that make my heart stop.
“My name is Ylva.”
I want to stop her, take back control of my body, and force her to explain what’s happening, but it’s already impossible. My wolf still feels like my wolf. Inside my mind, she looks exactly the same as she did the first time she awakened within me. I recognize the light in her eyes, the strength of her presence, and the calm she’s always managed to give me, but something is different. Something I can’t understand, something that makes my skin prickle every time I hear her voice.
She guides my body with absolute confidence. She doesn’t hesitate. She doesn’t falter. Every stride is steady, every leap seems calculated in advance, as if she knows this forest better than the back of her hand and is completely certain she’s leading us to the right place.
Several minutes later, the trees begin to thin, and what appears before me makes me fight with everything I have to regain control of my body. My muscles tense instantly, and a shiver runs down my spine as the air slowly leaves my lungs.
I’ve seen this place before.
It’s a village.
Or at least, what’s left of it.
The stone buildings are barely still standing. Many have collapsed with the passage of time, while others have been reduced to piles of rubble buried beneath a thick blanket of snow. The silence is unsettling, almost sacred, as if this place had been forgotten for centuries.
My gaze finally settles on a massive boulder rising among the ruins.
The symbol carved into it makes me swallow hard. I walk over and run my fingertips across the engraving.

I’ve seen this place in my dreams, in involuntary visions, thousands of times.
This is the Wolfsangel Pack. I’m in Norway.”

“You’ve remembered our home.” Her calm reply stands in complete contrast to the chaos raging inside me Little by little. she steps back and returns control of my body to me. “This is where it all began. I’ll let you see it for yourself. Just open your mind and let yourself experience what’s about to happen.”
1 watch her in silence, unable to look away from her even within my own mind.
“You… you remember what that warlock did to us?”
“Yes, but I’ll tell you later.” She pauses briefly. “He’s waiting for us.”
I don’t know if I’m ready to walk through this old village in ruins. Part of me wants to turn around and run before I discover something I can’t bear, but another part, much deeper, urges me to keep going. A certainty rises from somewhere deep inside my chest, leaving no room for doubt. I’m supposed to be here. This place holds the answers I’ve been searching for all this time, even the ones I never imagined I’d need.
I begin walking slowly, my boots crunching through the snow as I study the remains of each building. Walls defeated by time, blackened beams, stones covered in moss and ice. The war thousands of years ago, along with the passing centuries, left almost nothing standing. Even so, the place still holds something difficult to explain, a silent presence that refuses to disappear. Yet no matter how carefully I scan the village, I can’t find anything to tell me where I’m supposed to go.
“Astra.
I call out to her, tired of wandering aimlessly, but there’s no answer.
Then it happens.
In the blink of an eye, the sunlight disappears. There’s no transition. No shadows slowly stretching across the ground. It simply ceases to exist, and the moon takes its place, bathing the village in silvery light that completely transforms the landscape. The air fills with sounds where moments before there had been only silence. The houses are no longer piles of crumbling stone. They’re whole again. Smoke rises from the chimneys, torches light the pathways, and life returns before
my eyes.
