The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 185

Chapter 185

id as I stand up and walk toward the bathroom. My body no longer feels the way it did a few minutes ago. The pain has turned into a dull ache that I can barely feel, and the healing nature of my lycan side is beginning to do its work My muscles are still tired and my legs tremble slightly, but I can move without difficulty

Thank you, lycan nature.

“Just let them in. I need to take a shower, and I’ll be with you in a few minutes.”

Sonia nods, and I step into the bathroom. Before closing the door, I look once more at my daughter, who remains peacefully in her arms. Oana is sleeping with her tiny fists curled beside her face, barely moving beneath the blanket Her breathing is so soft that for a moment I simply stand there watching her, unable to look away.

Then I gently close the door and remain standing in front of the mirror for a few seconds.

My hair is tangled, my skin is still damp, and there are small patches of dirt that I could not completely wash away I am exhausted, but there is something different about my face. Something I have never seen before.

I am a mother.

I have a beautiful, healthy daughter. I have a family.

I smile at my reflection and place my hands against the edge of the sink.

Celine Miller no longer exists. At least, not the Celine who lived in a pack house, locked inside a damp, cold room, beaten, humiliated, and despised by her own family. That woman who learned to survive in silence, waiting for each day to end so she could endure the next one is behind me.

And for the first time, I do not feel sadness when I think about her.

I feel proud.

I close my eyes and slowly let out a breath.

“Thank you, Goddess of the Moon. Thank you for giving this rejected wolf a second chance. Thank you for blessing me with a family and a beautiful daughter.”

Emotion tightens my chest. I place one hand over my heart and remain that way for a few seconds, allowing everything I feel to move through me without trying to hold it back. Too many things have happened in far too little time. My lite changed when I met Bastian, then Johan came into it, and now I have a little girl inmy arms who depends on me completely.

I still have trouble believing it.

I turn on the faucet and let the hot water begin filling the bathtub. Steam starts to cover the mirrors and slowly tog the glass as I step into the shower. The heat hits my skin, and I close my eyes as the water runs through my hair and over my shoulders.

I take my time,

I let the water wash away the last traces of mud, blood, and dirt still clinging to my body. The scent of shampoo fills the small space, and little by little, my muscles begin to relax. I place one hand against the wall and lower my head, enjoying those few minutes of silence.

For the first time since I left the forest, I can stop.

I can breathe.

The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon

Then I hear the door open and close softly.

imle appears on my lips before I even need to look.

I know perfectly well that Bastian is incapable of waiting.

A few seconds later, I see him step into the shower fully dressed. His shirt immediately clings to his chest from the water and his dark pants become soaked as he approaches me without even bothering to take them off The worried expression on his face makes me forget any intention of scolding him.

He takes me into his arms and holds me tightly beneath the warm stream of water.

His body is warm and smells like rain, soap, and him. I rest my face against his chest and close my eyes as his arms wrap around me so tightly that it almost seems as though he needs to make sure I will not disappear again.

“I love you.”

My fingers gently clutch his soaked shirt.

“I love you too.”

Bastian pulls back just enough to look at me. His deep black eyes move over my face, my wet hair, and every part of me he can see, as if he is searching for an injury I have not mentioned.

“Why did you leave?” he finally asks. “I almost died of fright when I thought that thing had taken you again.”

“Bastian…”

“No.” His voice immediately loses its strength. “You need to understand me.”

He takes the shampoo from the shelf and pours some into the palm of his hand. Then he begins massaging my hair with slow, careful movements, moving the strands away from my face so the lather does not get into my eyes

“He already separated us once, and now he is here to stay. This morning, you claimed him and accepted him as your second mate His fingers continue moving through my hair as he speaks. “I think I’m on the verge of losing my mind, Celine Then you disappear without telling anyone, and you have our daughter in the forest, alone and without help.)

I feel his hands stop for a moment.

“Johan found me and brought me here immediately.”

“That’s the problem.”

Bastian moves his fingers through my hair again, but his movements are slower now

“He was there when I was supposed to be there. Do you know how that makes me feel?”

I look up at him.

And then I see it.

A tear mixes with the water running down his face and disappears along his jaw.

I remain completely still. This is the first time I have ever seen Bastian cry.

The man who always seems to have an answer, the future king who never hesitates in front of others, the man who can face any enemy without showing fear, is standing in front of me with tears in his eyes.

Something inside my chest breaks.
