The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon
Chapter 190
the air out of my lungs in frustration. Bastian had said he didn’t want Johan under the same roof, not that he had already thrown him out of the castle. I don’t know where he is. I don’t know if he has a permanent place to stay or even if he has access to the basic comforts any person needs. I don’t know if he is alone, if someone went with him, or what the hell Bastian did after our argument.
This is a damn problem.
I open the doors to my bedroom and walk inside with Oana in my arms. I carefully lay her down in the center of the bed and arrange the blankets around her small body, making sure she stays warm.
The fire in the fireplace is still burning, casting orange flashes across the stone walls, but I know this castle’s cold well enough not to trust it. I walk over to the fireplace, take a couple of logs, and place them on the embers. The fire grows with a dry crackle and the flames rise again, filling the room with a pleasant warmth.
I spend a few seconds watching my daughter. She is sleeping deeply, her lips slightly parted and one of her tiny hands peeking out from beneath the blanket. Her breathing is so soft that I have to move a little closer to make sure she is comfortable. She is perfect, and I should be resting with her. I should be in bed, recovering from giving birth, letting my body do its job and enjoying the peace I have needed so badly, but I am too furious to sit still.
I go into the dressing room after taking one last look at Oana and change the clothes I’m wearing for loose, comfortable ones that allow me to move freely. I need to release all this anger, and the only way I know how to do that without ending up saying something I might regret is by training.
“We just had a baby. What you should be doing is getting some rest and maybe training with Aymara tomorrow.”
I ignore Astra’s voice in my mind. She hasn’t said a single word since I had my daughter in the forest. Not one. And now that she finally decides to show up, it turns out she agrees with Bastian. Instead of supporting me, she seems determined to remind me that I should behave like a woman who has just given birth and follow the recommendations of everyone who thinks they know what is best for me. It’s quite irritating.
I finish getting dressed, return to the bed, and check once more that Oana is well covered before heading toward the door. The three guards remain at their posts, motionless, with their backs straight and their hands clasped in front of their bodies. They look like old suits of armor placed there to guard the entrance. When I open the door, all three pairs of eyes immediately fix on me.
“Could you please light the fireplaces in the training room for me and the baby?” I ask as I look down the hallway. “And try not to be seen by anyone.”
The three exchange a quick glance before nodding. One of them separates from the group and begins walking down the corridor that leads to the training room.
“Thank you.”
I close the door and remain there for a few seconds, leaning against it. The thought of Bastian showing up at any moment to tell me what I should do causes another surge of irritation. I’m not going to allow it.
Not tonight.
I braid my hair to keep it from bothering me while I train. It is too long, and I have been putting off getting it cut for weeks. I run my fingers through the ends before tying them back, and when I raise my eyes, my own reflection forces me to stop.
I stare at myself for a few seconds and feel as though I am looking at a stranger. My hair has changed. It is longer than I remember, and it has a different tone beneath the warm light of the lamps. My eyes also seem different, more intense, as if everything I have lived through during these months has left something behind in them.
My skin has become paler, and my cheeks retain a rosy color from the warmth of the room, but even that isn’t enough to

make me fully recognize myself. I run my fingers over my face and continue staring at my reflection It is my body, my face. my eyes, and yet there are moments when I feel like I am still searching for the Celine who first entered this world without

Maybe that is what I have trouble recognizing. I am not the same wolf who arrived in the kingdom of Lemuria Jam a mother, I am Bastian’s mate, and now I am also bonded to Johan. I have a family I never imagined having and a daughter sleeping just a few steps away from me.
