The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 22

Chapter 22

“But we agreed you wouldn’t sleep in another room because your father would become suspicious.” I try to remind him of what he told me that morning at the pack house, before all this madness began.

And honestly, that is not the only reason I want him to stay.

When I’m near Bastian, I can feel my wolf a little more, as if she slowly awakens every time he touches me of speaks to me And besides…. this castle still feels enormous and unfamiliar. After what happened downstairs, part of me is still afraid that something bad will happen the moment I close my eyes.

“Fine, but I won’t sleep with you, Celine.”

The enormous black bed takes up most of the room. It is so large that four people could easily sleep on it comfortably. I stare at it for a few seconds before looking back at him.

“You don’t have a couch like you mentioned before.”

I slowly sit on the edge of the mattress to remove my shoes beneath his attentive gaze. Bastian says absolutely nothing. He remains motionless in the same spot, watching every single one of my movements with an intensity that makes my cheeks warm again.

When I try to reach the zipper of the dress on my back, my fingers awkwardly tangle in the fabric and silver embroidery.

I slightly lift my gaze toward him.

“Will you help me?”

Morning light filters through the enormous dark curtains and I slowly sit up in bed, still feeling my body heavy.

I stretch my muscles slightly and take advantage of the silence to better observe Bastian’s enormous chamber now that I’m not too busy trying not to die from nerves in front of him. Everything here is dark, elegant, and absurdly large.

The black walls, dark wooden furniture, and warm lights make the room feel more like the refuge of an ancient beast than the chamber of a prince. Even the air completely carries his scent. Cedar, mint, and that deep masculine smell of leather that I now immediately associate with him.

My eyes fly open when certain memories from last night slowly return to my mind. The dress, Zack, his golden eyes, his arms around me, and me telling him he could mark me.

Goddess.

I quickly shake my head and get up searching for something else to wear before I think too much about it. The formal dress lies discarded beside the bed completely wrinkled and with part of the silver embroidery torn near the zipper. My gaze automatically moves around the rest of the room.

Bastian is not here. It doesn’t even look like he slept here. The other side of the bed remains perfectly untouched and cold. A strange little feeling settles in my chest while I walk toward the enormous bathroom.

The hot shower slowly relaxes my tired muscles and the water washes away the remnants of the previous night. Perfume, sweat, and small dried stains of blood that probably ended up on me when Zack almost killed that poor wolf in front of the entire court. And that was only my first night in this castle. Goddess.

To my surprise, I find several feminine hygiene products perfectly arranged on one of the black marble shelves. I stare at them for a few seconds before smiling faintly.

The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon

The detail catches me completely off guard. The hot water continues falling over my skin for a few more minutes unt finally step out wrapped in an enormous black robe that clearly belongs to Bastian.

The sleeves completely cover my hands and the scent of the fabric makes my wolf stir slightly inside me. I still cannot truly hear her, but I can feel her small reactions more clearly every time.

I dry my hair with a towel and abruptly stop when I return to the room. Several black bags and perfectly arranged boxes rest on the enormous bed. I frown and slowly approach. Clothes. A lot of clothes. Casual dresses, pants, soft hoodies, sportswear. shoes, boots, and even carefully folded underwear. Everything completely new. Everything in dark or neutral colors. Everything exactly like the kind of clothing I would wear.

I slowly run my fingers over one of the soft fabrics, still unable to understand how the hell Bastian managed to choose things I like so perfectly when we barely know each other. I still cannot get used to someone paying attention to my needs, much less to him seeming to notice even things I overlook myself.

I lock the door and get dressed quickly before going to look for Bastian. I need him to explain what I’m supposed to do from now on inside this enormous castle. I only hope I don’t get lost.

Once ready. I unlock the door to go look for Bastian and, when I open it, King Magnus is talking to the guards, leaning against the wall dressed in casual clothes, slightly disheveled and wearing a broad smile the moment he sees me. I freeze without letting go of the doorknob, as if I had seen a ghost instead of the kingdom’s highest authority.
