Chapter 5
The atmosphere inside the Blood Moon pack house was heavy with tension.
Alpha Darius paced back and forth in front of the fireplace in his office, a glass of whiskey in hand while Anne cried miserably on the sofa. Luna Beatriz tried to calm her daughter by stroking her hair, although the nervousness on her face made it clear she too was beginning to lose patience.
While the situation inside the office became increasingly uncomfortable, a black Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of the pack house and, behind it, twelve fully armored vehicles followed.
The subtle scent of jasmine and snow struck Prince Bastian Thorn instantly.
“Our Luna is here! Find her!”
The prince’s wolf fought to take control, but the prince did not allow it. He entered the house following the scent, shoving maids and Delta warriors out of his way until he reached the servants’ hallway. He frowned and cornered one of the maids carrying a basket of dirty laundry.
“Where is the woman sleeping in this room?!” he shouted in the young woman’s face, terrifying her so badly that, without even touching her, he nearly made her faint. “Where is my mate?”
The girl told him that Celine had been dismissed that morning and that only the Alpha knew where she was.
He climbed the stairs as if the apocalypse were about to break loose and threw open the office door.
Tanner remained standing beside the window, rigid, his jaw tense after breaking the engagement and canceling the mating ceremony. He had ideals and an upbringing built on values.
“Breaking the engagement over a simple misunderstanding was a mistake.” Darius’s voice sounded more desperate than authoritative. “Anne will make a great Luna for your pack. Celine is not worth it. She has not been trained to beconie a Luna worthy of your pack. She is only a worthless servant. Rejecting her was for the best.”
Tanner did not answer immediately, but the look he gave him was murderous. He could not believe an Alpha like him could speak about his own daughter that way.
His mind remained trapped in the same scene over and over again.
The small bedroom, the old bed.
The canvas bag. Celine’s empty gaze.
And then….
“I am the Alpha’s legitimate daughter.”
The broken bond between them still burned painfully in his chest.
Celine was not an orphan. She was the Alpha’s daughter.
Bastian had just heard Alpha Darius’s words, and the rage inside him was equal to the force of an erupting volcano. He walked toward the Alpha and, without giving him time to react when he saw him enter, lifted him by the throat, his claws piercing the skin of his neck. One simple twist of his wrist would have been enough to end the vermin’s life, but he needed to know where his mate, his Luna, was.
“Where is Celine? Where is my Luna, your future queen?”
He released him and shoved him against the wall. Luna Beatriz and Anne remained frozen in their seats. The prince’s aura

was so oppressive and hostile that neither dared move.
“In… the forest clearing…” he managed to say before collapsing to the floor.
Bastian turned to leave, but before walking away he glanced at Tanner for a second and said:
“Thank you for the gift. If you had not rejected her, I never would have found her.”
Without another word, he left. In the middle of the hallway, he encountered Beta Christian and, upon catching Celine’ scent on him, subdued him within seconds.
“You were with my mate. Where is she?”
The Beta immediately understood the situation. The man holding him against the wooden floor was Prince Bastian Thorn, known for his savagery and countless victories in battle. Going against him was the same as placing a noose around his ov neck.
“My niece is in the forest clearing. Head west, cross the stream, and you will find her. The cabin is in ruins,” he said calmly
Bastian released him and descended the stairs. He ordered that no one was to leave until his return and allowed his wolf to take control. Half wolf, half man, his clothes tore apart as he ran toward the forest following the Beta’s directions.
Christian appeared at the office door a second later, his face pale.
“Alpha… we have a problem.”
Darius let out an irritated sigh and drained the rest of the whiskey in one swallow.
“I know,” he answered while wiping away the blood.
The prince had arrived late to the pack on purpose. He had no desire to witness any of it. The sooner he returned to the kingdom, the sooner he could leave again for another territorial conquest. His father, tired of his son, wanted to tame him. He wanted him to settle down and find his Luna so he could eventually take control of the kingdom. That was why he had sent him to the Blood Moon pack as his representative, hoping he would find the woman capable of changing him.
What Prince Bastian Thorn did not know was that his father had succeeded, but his arrival in the forest nearly drove him insane. He hid behind an ancient oak tree and watched a group of men beating a wolf until, after a final cry, the animal collapsed to the ground. He saw the tent, and the breeze carried the scent of his mate toward him.
He waited patiently for a minute until he saw her emerge and run toward the fallen Delta. He calmed after seeing her check the man’s pulse while he had already noticed the man hidden above the tree before he dropped onto her.
His wolf roared, demanding he save her, but Bastian saw the shine of the knife in his woman’s hand. He listened to everything, word for word, and watched the man overpower her, but when his hands slid down to her hips and touched what belonged only to him, he emerged from hiding to intervene.
He was greatly surprised when she drove the knife into her attacker’s eye. The sight of her face covered in blood excited him. Then she shoved the man off her, and Bastian broke his neck before throwing him behind the tree where he himself had been hidden seconds earlier.
He looked at her and felt more than satisfied.
Zack, his wolf, spoke to him.
“Good girl. I am proud. The Goddess has destined me a warrior.”
But she fainted.
Bastian carried her in his arms and brought her back to the pack house. He laid her down on the bed in the main bedroom
