The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon
Chapter 60

“Because I’m dying for you, Celine. Do you see this? It hurts like hell, and it’s like this every single day”
She remains silent for a few more seconds. Her eyes stay locked on mine while her hands slowly leave my chest and rise to rest on my shoulders. Her fingers curl lightly against my skin, as if she’s gathering the courage to say something she has been holding back for far too long.
“My heat will be here soon. So what will you do then? Will you help me through it, or will I suffer the way you are now? Because it’s not that I don’t want you. I do. You’re the one holding back. You haven’t marked me, we haven’t completed the mate bond, but I can see you fighting this every day, and I don’t understand it.”
For a moment, I simply stare at her. I wasn’t expecting to hear that.
Much less like this.
Her voice doesn’t tremble. There’s no embarrassment or insecurity in her words. Just a brutal honesty that leaves me speechless for several seconds.
My wolf stirs beneath the surface because she’s right. Celine wants me. I don’t need her to say it for me to know. I see it every time she reaches for my hand when we walk together, when she settles beside me during our trips, or when she moves closer to me without realizing that every one of those small gestures means far more than she imagines. Even so, hearing her admit it out loud catches me off guard.
“YOU IDIOT, OUR MATE WANTS US!” Zack growls inside my head.
But hearing her admit it is something entirely different.
“You’re not ready, Celine. I don’t want to hurt you.”
She holds my gaze for a moment longer. Her eyelashes don’t even flutter.
“No.” The answer comes calmly. Confidently. “You’re not ready.”
The blow lands exactly where it was meant to.
My jaw tightens.
Because part of me knows she just spoke a truth I’ve been avoiding for far too long.
She places both hands against my chest and gently pushes me back. She doesn’t try to force me away. She couldn’t even if she wanted to.
She simply moves me enough to slip past me.
I watch her walk toward the shower while removing the last of her clothes with slow, unhurried movements, completely unaware of the chaos she has just left inside my head. One piece of fabric after another falls onto the marble floor and disappears into the clouds of steam beginning to spread through the bathroom.
Seconds later, she steps behind the glass partition.
The sound of water filling the room finally breaks the silence. Steam slowly spreads through the bathroom, fogging the mirrors and covering the marble with a thin layer of moisture.
“If you don’t get in there with her right now, I swear I’ll make you regret it.”
My wolf’s warning is not an empty threat. After a century of sharing the same mind, I know exactly what he’s capable of when he decides my patience has stopped being a virtue and started becoming stupidity.

“We’ll wait a little longer, Zack. Until Celine is a little stronger.
“She already is, you damn coward!”

I ignore the growl echoing inside my head and turn toward the other shower. I take one, two steps, determined to keep some distance for once in my miserable existence, but my feet stop abruptly before I even reach the glass partition.
I frown because something feels wrong. The strange sensation forces me to look up at the steam-covered mirror, and then 1 understand. I’m not smiling. At least, I’m not the one who should be smiling.
And yet, a slow, shamelessly satisfied grin remains spread across my face. My eyes, usually dark, shine with an intense golden hue I know all too well.
Shit.
My stomach drops.
“Zack…”
The bastard doesn’t even try to hide it. The golden eyes blink with amusement.
“What?”
“Give me back control.”
“No.”
“Zack.”
“No.”
I clench my jaw as I continue staring at my own reflection.
The son of a bitch took control of my body without me noticing. And judging by the expression of absolute satisfaction on his face, I suspect he has just found a particularly creative way to get revenge on me.
My body moves under my wolf’s will before I can stop it. I watch it walk straight toward the shower enclosure where Celine is bathing, and a surge of alarm immediately runs through me. Zack slides the glass door open and steps inside without asking permission, as though the decision belongs entirely to him. Hot water pours over both of us, and she looks up immediately.
The strangest part is that she doesn’t seem embarrassed. In fact, the surprise lasts only an instant before something catches my attention. A golden glimmer shines in her eyes, and mixed with it is a deep blue I have never seen before. It takes me only a second to understand what I’m looking at.
It’s not Celine watching me right now.
It’s her wolf.
She wraps her arms around our neck while steam swirls around us, and Zack doesn’t waste a second. His hands close around her waist and pull her against our body with irritating ease, making the water slide between us and strike the marble floor in a constant rain. The satisfied smile that appears on our face does not belong to me, and that only makes everything worse.
Because I’m not the one making those decisions. I’m not the one holding her or leaning toward her. It’s Zack who has taken control, and I’m beginning to suspect the bastard has been waiting for exactly this moment.
“Zack!”
The idiot doesn’t even listen to me. Or worse, he hears me perfectly and has decided to ignore me completely. Knowing

It’s my damn wolf kissing my girl, not me!
