The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 9

Chaspter 9

Beta Christian Carlson steps farther forward.

“Where are Darius and his family, Your Royal Highness?” asks the Beta who earlier told me Celine was in the forest and who turned out to be her uncle.

“In prison, Beta Carlson.” I reply coldly. “Their crimes are: hiding their legitimate daughter by pretending she was dead. torturing and enslaving her, corruption, abuse of authority, and embezzlement. Would you like to join them for being an accomplice, Beta Carlson?”

The Beta glances toward Celine, ignoring my threat, and moves a little closer to her.

Interesting.

“Where will you take Celine? She is…”

I cut him off, ordering him with a look not to come any closer. He obeys.

“Your niece, I know.” I glare at him. “You are the brother of this pack’s former Luna and, if you are not locked up alongside the Miller family, it’s because I gathered enough information about your work and confirmed that your record is clean. But will not forgive you for not doing more to protect my mate.”

“Mate?” someone else whispers, and I find the man with my gaze.

“Allow me to formally introduce Celine Miller, legitimate daughter of former Alpha Darius Miller and Bianca Carlson, his deceased Luna. My mate. Your future queen.”

Immediately, everyone who was still standing drops to their knees before her, and Celine keeps her eyes forward, though she isn’t truly focusing on anyone in particular. A single tear slowly slips down her cheek.

“All of you will be investigated and brought to trial if I discover that you knew Celine’s true identity and chose to hide it.”

I waste no more time on them and look at my mate, who has lowered her gaze back to the floor.

“Now we can leave, Celine. Do you want to say goodbye to anyone before we go?”

She nods silently.

“I want to see Mr. Jasper and his family before we leave, Bastian. They’re farmers and live in the forest. But first, I’d like to stop by the hospital to see Delta Thomas.”

Her voice is so quiet I can barely hear her.

“Then we’ll go to the hospital first.”

Without letting go of my hand, she starts walking, and minutes later, we enter the pack’s small hospital. One glance is enough for me to notice the lack of resources. The equipment is old and the structure is deteriorating.

Luna Beatriz Miller did a terrible job fulfilling her role.

Celine lets go of my hand when she asks about the Delta, and a nurse guides us to the room.

The boy has a pretty nasty head wound, but he’s awake and lucid. I leave my mate alone with her friend for a few minutes to give them privacy and step outside the room.

Zack growls inside my mind when I see the man standing in front of me.

“Alpha Tanner.” My voice comes out low and deep. “What are you doing here? Don’t you have work to do?”

55 vouchers

He nods and steps back twice, but he doesn’t lower his head. On the contrary, he straightens up to look me directly in the

eye;

“Yes, Your Highness, but I wanted to know how Celine is doing. She was…”

I don’t let him finish. I grab him by the collar and slam him against the wall.

“You said it yourself, Tanner Was. She is no longer your fated mate, you rejected her.” I growl very close to his face. “She belongs to me now. My mate.”

I step away after letting him go, because if I don’t. Zack and I will end up tearing him to pieces. Tanner rubs his neck and, stupidly enough, challenges me with his gaze. He doesn’t stand a chance against me. He’s an ordinary wolf, and I could finish him in seconds.

But I won’t. I restrain myself because Celine is on the other side of the door with her friend, and I don’t want to frighten her.

“We can kill him without her ever knowing.”

I let out a nasal laugh, because what Zack says isn’t a bad idea.

“Keep your distance. You were an idiot, and now you have to live with it. But I’m curious, Tanner. Why did you do it? You were about to mate with the less suitable one. I don’t believe you didn’t catch your mate’s scent the moment you walked into the house. You did, but you ignored it anyway. When you rejected her, did you truly believe she was nothing more than a

servant?”

Tanner doesn’t answer, but his shoulders visibly drop and I… smile.

Yes. That’s exactly what happened, and that is why he rejected her.

“A mere alpha abandoned his mate, his future Luna, because he believed she was insignificant.” My laughter echoes through the hallway. “Look at yourself, Tanner Blackwood. What you threw away now belongs to a prince. You chose very poorly.”

“Darius deceived me!” he shouts. “I was supposed to mate with his eldest daughter! I didn’t know Celine was his daughter! He told me Anne was his only daughter!”

The last words leave his throat as if someone were strangling him.

“But when Celine told you who she was, you still didn’t take it back.” I mock him cruelly “To you, she was still insignificant ”

“I regret it so much, I wasn’t thinking clearly and now…”

I interrupt him again and take a step toward him.

“Now you’re going to watch the woman who should have been your Luna leave with another man One who, in just a few hours, gave her what no one ever offered her in her entire life”

Now it’s his turn to laugh, and I arch an eyebrow because this wolf clearly has no fear of dying.
