The Second Chance Of The Rejected Moon (Celine and Bastian) novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90

B

My eyes, that strange blend of blue with tiny golden flecks, seem even more striking. The makeup enhances my features. and my almost silver hair completely transforms my appearance.

Astra is delighted.

Me?

I’m a little scared.

What if Bastian doesn’t let me go? What if he makes a scene?

I don’t want to draw his attention by starting a fight.

“We’ve been up here for over an hour, Celine.” Astra speaks again with complete calm. “And he hasn’t come upstairs to look for you. He didn’t even take the time to properly introduce that woman to you. If he doesn’t like the way you look… he’ll just have to deal with it. Because you really are beautiful.”

I slowly lower my gaze to my body.

I’ve noticed that my new curves stand out much more ever since all those changes began. My hips are more defined, my waist seems slimmer, and my clothes fit me in a completely different way.

“Don’t you think it’s a little too much?” I ask uncertainly. “I feel strange seeing myself like this.”

“You look like a twenty-two-year-old woman who’s about to go out and have fun with her best friend.”

The door opens again.

I look up.

And now it’s Aymara who manages to surprise me.

She’s wearing a short black leather dress that leaves very little to the imagination, matching knee-high boots, and her curly hair has a volume any queen would envy. Her makeup matches mine perfectly, and the confidence with which she walks into the dressing room makes her look like she owns the castle.

She spins around when she realizes I’m watching her.

“Your brother is going to lock you in the dungeons if he sees you dressed like that.”

Aymara bursts into laughter.

“I’m one hundred and sixty-three years old, Celine. I stopped being a pup a very long time ago. She extends a hand toward me with a conspiratorial smile. “Ready to shock half the castle?”

I slowly shake my head, unable to find the words.

She laces her fingers with mine and gently pulls my hand.

“Relax. We’re just going out for a few drinks… and to enjoy the live music.”

We leave the chambers together.

The two guards stationed outside the door look up as they hear us coming out. Neither of them manages to bow the way they always do. They remain completely still, exchange a quick glance with each other, then look back at us with a mixture of surprise and bewilderment that almost makes me smile.

“You may go downstairs and have dinner. gentlemen,” I say with a confidence I don’t even know where it came from “Good

evening.

Aymara lets out a soft laugh, adjusts her jacket, and links her arm through mine as we calmly walk toward the staircase

“What the hell smells so good in this castle? It’s an aroma that’s practically making me drool. Don’t you smell it?”

I frown slightly.

The only thing I smell is Nadia’s perfume.”

“Oh, Celine… that’s easily fixed. Release your wolf’s scent and drown out that damned woman’s.”

I hadn’t thought of that.

I take a deep breath and let my pheromones spread just a little through the hallway. Not too much, only enough for Nadia’s perfume to stop overwhelming my senses. The change is immediate. I can once again smell the wood, the lit fireplaces, and the dinner waiting for us downstairs.

Aymara smiles immediately.

“Well… someone’s marking her territory, isn’t she?”

My friend bursts into laughter as we walk down the stairs together.

“Anyway, thanks for letting me take you out tonight. I haven’t set foot in a nightclub in decades.”

“And I’ve never been to one,” I reply with a small smile as we reach the great hall.

The moment we step off the last stair, a dozen pairs of eyes turn toward us.

The ladies of the court are still gathered around the coffee table, enjoying coffee and pastries as though the castle belonged to them. One conversation after another falls silent until the entire hall is completely quiet.

I frown slightly.

“You’re still here? Doesn’t any of you have a home to go back to?”

I don’t even try to hide how much I dislike finding them still settled inside my castle.

Arlet Black slowly sets her teacup down on its saucer and rises to her feet with the elegance she so loves to display. Her eyes travel over my outfit, my boots, my leather skirt, my makeup, and finally stop on my face. An expression of open disapproval crosses her features.

The war had just begun.

“Well, Luna Celine. We’ve organized a gathering so we can get to know each other better and begin planning your mating ceremony with the prince.” Arlet smiles with that false kindness I’ve already learned to hate and approaches Aymara and me with slow, perfectly measured steps. “After all, these are your last nights as an unmated she-wolf.”

“I stopped being an unmated she-wolf the day I found my mate and he marked my neck, Arlet.” I continue walking toward the dining room beside Aymara before she can catch up with me. “Now do me the favor of leaving my castle, and the next time you decide to organize a gathering here, ask either me or Aymara first whether we’re in the mood to receive guests.”

Arlet frowns, and her hands clench into fists at her sides.

“Celine, dear. You can’t keep behaving like this. We only want to be your friends and support you.”
