I did not answer Scott when he spoke to me. Scott held me the whole time without letting go. He didn’t ask me to stop. He didn’t tell me to be strong. He just kept his arms around me, as if he could hold me together when my mind couldn’t do it anymore.
“It’s okay,” he said softly, his hand moving slowly on my back. “You don’t have to say anything.”
He told me I was safe, that I was not alone, that he had me, and that nothing could touch me here. I could feel the tension in his body, and the anger he was trying to keep under control.
My face was pressed into his chest, and my tears soaked into his shirt as if they had been waiting for this moment to come out. I tried to say something, but my throat hurt too much. The crying felt endless, like it carried years inside it. I wasn’t only crying for what I had just heard. I was crying for my childhood, for my mother, for the family I never really had because someone else wanted more than they deserved. I cried for all the times I had doubted myself, thinking something was wrong with me, when the truth was that someone had been working against me the entire time.
In front of us, Lucy was still lying on the floor of the chamber. Her hands shook as she dragged herself a few inches forward. She was whimpering like an injured animal. She was too weak to sit up properly. Her body was shaking as she tried to push herself back and failed. She kept crying and pleading with anyone who would listen in a voice hoarse from pain and panic. “Please,” she whimpered, her voice broken. “Please take me out of here. I can’t stay here.” She kept repeating the same thing, over and over.
I watched her through my tears, and the disgust in my stomach grew instead of shri this place, she tried to use tears as a weapon, as if crying could erase what she had

For years, she had controlled a home with that same kind of performance, twisting people’s minds by playing victim or using potions whenever she needed sympathy. It had worked on my father. But standing here now, hearing her pleas in front of everyone, nothing softened inside me for her.
When my crying finally slowed, Scott loosened his hold slightly, still keeping me close. I pulled back slightly and wiped my face with trembling fingers, hating how raw my cheeks felt. My eyes were burning and swollen. I took a deep breath. Then I turned my head toward Lucy. “No Lucy. You will never leave this prison,” I said quietly.
Lucy froze when she heard that. Her eyes widened, and fear filled her face even more. She shook her head hard. “No,” she whispered. “Please, Bella. No.”
I looked past her at Nancy, who was standing nearby, unmoved by Lucy’s fear.
“Nancy,” I said in a shaky voice as my chest hurt, “keep her here. Don’t let her die, but don’t let her live either. I want her to stay here for the rest of her life. I want her to suffer for the same number of years my life was ruined because of her.”
Lucy began shaking violently. “No, no,” she cried. “Please forgive me. I didn’t mean it. I’ll change. I swear I’ll change.”
“You should have thought about forgiveness before you destroyed a family,” I said. “Before you

father against me. Before you poisoned his mind so he couldn’t see his own daughter clearly. And before you killed my mother when she was pregnant.”
Lucy let out a broken sob and tried to crawl closer, but her strength failed her again.
“Bella, trust me, I’ll leave you alone forever,” she cried. “I’ll disappear. I won’t come near you again, just take me out of this place. They torture me here. I can’t live like this.”
I shook my head slowly. “You don’t deserve to live freely,” I said. “You killed my mother. You used witch potions to control my father. You tried to kill me.” I paused for a moment. “But you also don’t deserve to die, Lucy, Death would be too easy. You need to live with what you’ve done. You’ll neither die, nor live!”
Lucy cried loudly, her voice echoing around the torture room.
Then I turned back to Nancy. “And don’t punish only Lucy,” I said. “Punish Rowan too. She used her magic to hurt humans. She should be made an example so no witch ever thinks she can enter the human world and manipulate humans again.”
Nancy’s expression changed slightly, and a dark smile came to her lips. “That was already my intention,” she replied.
Rowan, restrained and blindfolded, lifted her head sharply. “You are foolish to threaten a witch, Bella” she hissed. “The moment I escape, I will come after you. Don’t you dare!”
Scott’s body stiffened instantly. I felt his Lycan rise and the air around us grew heavy with warning. Before he could speak, Nancy raised her hand slightly. She nodded once at her witches. They acted immediately.
Magic struck Rowan hard. Her body jerked violently against the restraints, and sh sound was raw and frightening, and even though I didn’t see the magic clearly, I Rowan’s screams grew weaker as the punishment continued, her strength draining

Lucy watched in horror, her crying stopping as she stared at Rowan, finally understanding what it meant to be trapped here.
I couldn’t watch anymore. Scott and I walked out of the prison. Nancy followed us out of the chamber. Once we were outside, I took a deep breath to steady myself.
“Thank you, Nancy,” I whispered, looking at her with reverence.
She smiled. “Stay here for a few days, Bella. You need time.”
I shook my head. “Not now. I need to go home and be with my kids and Scott. The last few months have been very hard on me, and I need to heal.”
Nancy didn’t argue. Instead, she stepped forward and hugged me tightly. “I didn’t know Lucy killed Catherine,” she said in a gravelly voice. “If I had known, I would have protected you from the start.” She pulled back. Tucking a strand of my hair, she said, “This is personal to me now. I promise you Lucy and Rowan will never leave this prison.”
Her words warmed my heart, and I hugged her back.

Chapter 141
We returned home through the portal soon after. When we stepped onto our roof, I realized it was already night. I felt exhausted in every way, I changed into comfortable clothes and lay down on the bed. Scott went out quietly and returned with food for me. He helped me sit up, made sure I ate.
Later, as I rested against the pillows, his hand resting over my belly, I asked the question that had been bothering me.
“Do you think I should contact my father?” I asked quietly. “Should I tell him anything about witches and potions?”
Scott appeared to think for a long moment before answering.
