Jacqueline watched the bear king with narrowed eyes as he seemed to struggle to understand what was flowing through his brain.
“It is not possible. You are fae and this must be a trick.”
“There is no trick.” Jacqueline grimaced and looked at Bar
with a derisive sneer, “is he always like this in the face of
truth? Will it take me to put him on his knees for him to
believe?”
“Yes.” Bar said with an emphatic nod as if begging her to put
him there.
His actions made her shake her head at her mate while her
other two mates snickered at Bar’s obvious desire for her to
show up his father. “Let’s give him a moment to process.”
“How?” Oberon’s eyes moved to Jack and as they flicked between the siblings realization coated his feature and he1:30

whispered in awe. “She is the missing princess. Your parents found her. Why are they not here with you?”
“That is a story for another day.” Jack made a face of irritation at the mention of his parents.
“I would think they would be here celebrating finding her.”
“Yet they aren’t here. As my brother has said it is a story for another day.”
“I feel today is as good a day as any,” Oberon pushed.
“Your feelings matter not when it comes to my wants and needs,” Jacqueline said simply relishing the way his lip curled furiously in the corner at her disrespect.
“What the hell are you?”
“Not what,” Jacqueline corrected, “who and I am who I am, King Oberon of the Bear Realm. You feel it buzzing all over you skin and your brain aches with it and yet you refuse to accept the truth. It explains so much as to why my mother sent me here to fix you all.”
“Fix us all?” Oberon huffed angrily. “What is to fix?” 2/11

“Pride, arrogance, greed and a lack of the most basic of emotions expected of a leader. Where is the compassion and kindness for those suffering under your rule,” she glared back at him, “such as your son.”
“You are playing games without understanding the situation.”
“I believe you are the one who doesn’t understand and it’s
perplexing to me that you would refuse to simply open your eyes and see the truth.”
“What the hell is happening?” Bjorn gave a frustrated shriek
at the back and forth.
“Pipe down child, the grown–ups are talking.” Wilder mocked
Bjorn. “If you wish to live to see the day you rule you will afford our queen the respect she deserves.”
Jacqueline ignored the effect Wilder’s words had on the man and instead remained with her gaze fixed on the king. “The Queen Mother sends her greetings. We see this going in a few different ways. First option; you congratulate your son on the fact he found his mates and his heart is finally moving in the direction of healing he so desperately needs. We can go have a nice dinner, get to know one another and play nice.”

“Of course I congratulate my son on finding mates, although I find it highly suspicious you insist you are from the Creator herself and you have claimed my son and two other princes as your own. I feel dark magic or the like must be involved.”
“I feel you were dropped on your head one too many times in your childhood. The second option will be me forcing you to hear the truth and you will not appreciate my tactics.” She felt a sudden overwhelming desire to put him on his knees the way Bar was wishing she would. He truly was an arrogant son of a bitch. “It’s almost like you wish for the fight.”
“What is the third option, mate?” Rafferty asked as he rubbed
circles on Bar’s back. “Bar is feeling very protective of you and the more you talk, the more possibilities are being laid
out in my mind.”
Jacqueline looked at him in surprise, “really? There are variables in your visions?”
“Wholly dependent on you of course,” Rafferty nodded.
“Interesting.” She looked back to the king, “the third option is King Oberon returns to his realm with his tail between his

legs and waits for the judgment to come to him. This is the most problematic option of course because his pride is hurting, his son is going to whine in his ear and in a few days he’ll be ready to begin a war he’ll never win. I assure you, your highness, you won’t make it past the gates of your castle, and I’ll have decimated the palace and the grounds with a simple snap of my fingers.”
“Why are you doing this?”
“I am going nothing,” Jacqueline responded. “This is all your doing. You came here with concern in your heart for your son because you felt his pain but then you also cannot let go of the anger between you. He is my mate and I must protect him. However, and I say this with all the love my mother feels for all her subjects, you have lost your way King Oberon and you need to spend time humbly, on your knees, asking yourself why your reign of prosperity and unity is falling apart. Also, your son is not ready to be king. He needs to grow.”
“Is that a dig about my height?”
“No. It is about your spirit. You are ruled by ego. You were given the gift of intelligence and the ability to smooth ruffled feathers, Bjorn but instead you use your gifts to manipulate 5/11

and coerce others to do your bidding, and it means you will be a terrible king, should you reach that goal.”
“Who the hell do you think you are?”
“I am Jacqueline Frost. Biological daughter of Jack and Winika Frost, sister to Jack and mate to Bar, Wilder and Rafferty but,” she moved closer to him, tilting her head a fraction to look into eyes which were so similar to her mate’s but so far off emotionally it was striking, “more importantly, I am the embodiment of the soul of the daughter to the goddess herself, the queen mother and she gave me the name of Queen of Kings and Queens, you miserable pissant.”
Bar’s growl echoed as his brother raised a hand as if to slap Jacqueline, but Jack managed in the right moment slowed time and Jacqueline took advantage and put Bjorn on his knees with ease. Ice formed cuffs over his calves, pinning him to the ground and Jacqueline used her magic to hide them all from the local townspeople and tourists who were nearby.
“Let me up.”
“No.” She looked to Oberon, “your son needs a lesson in manners.”

“What have you done?” Oberon looked around in awe at the frozen people all around.
“My brother has stopped time. My mother–in–law is using her healing abilities to keep Jack strong,” she nodded her thanks at Fawn, “I have created a barrier of sorts to mar the view so that those out there cannot see what transpires behind my wall of glass. They cannot see or hear our conversations now. I am the Queen of Kings and Queens and you King Oberon need your ass paddled. Look at your spoiled brat of a son.
Is this how a man destined for the crown should behave? He
is spiteful and self–serving. He knows remorse and regret, but it is superficial.” She froze the king in his place and lifted Bjorn’s chin and stared into his eyes letting him see the reality of who she was, “you chase a fever dream Bjorn. You
are not your brother. You will never be your brother. You are
the elder and yet all you focus on is your differences instead
of seeing what you could have built together. You were
meant to rule your kingdom with a soft heart to restore the faith of your people who have lost the belief that the subjects. of your throne are loved. They feel like pawns and used for the king’s personal gain as he builds his coffers with strategy. You were always meant to be the one working with Bar to bring peace and love back and instead you betrayed your own flesh and blood out of jealousy.”

Bjorn’s eyes were red as his beast tried to free them from the
binds which held them fast.
Jacqueline reached out, tapping Bjorn in the forehead and instantly his beast calmed, “settle creature. I mean you no harm. You feel threatened because your human counterpart continues to struggle against reality, but you know, you feel, I am here to save you all.”
“How did you do that?” Oberon asked. “You can
communicate directly with the beast within?”
“I am blessed with an ability to speak to all living creatures. If it draws oxygen and is alive, I can communicate with it. It’s a
lovely ability. I had the most fascinating conversation with a rose bush in my mother’s garden,” Jacqueline shrugged.
“Release my son.”
“Not until he apologizes for being a twat,” Jacqueline snorted. “You also have not given me an answer. What are you intending to do, Oberon?”
“I want my son to come home. If you are truly the Queen of Kings and Queens you need to take residence with your mate
in his realm.”

“And there it is,” Bar said sadly. “You called it my love. He is going to try to capitalize on the fact my mate is potentially a political advantage for him. She will show you no favors, Father. She is my mate, yes, but most importantly she is the bridge to all realms.”
“It is tradition for females to move from where their male
mates hail.” Oberon’s nostrils flared at being so boldly called
out.
“I am the first and only of my kind,” Jacqueline scoffed, “there are no tradition or rules for you to enforce in regard to my mating or the claim. I will reside with my mates where I choose. I have no need to follow your demands.”
“Bar, you have been away from home long enough and now that you are mated, it can repair the damages done. In fact, it makes sense for you, with your powerful bride to rule alongside Bjorn as she said. You were meant to be a team
with him. Bjorn will accept you as co–crown.”
Bjorn’s howl of misery at his father’s words made Jacqueline
feel sad for the man for a moment.
“You are a greedy king,” Jacqueline sighed loudly, “and your

actions have set in motion a series of events we cannot undo.
You have now with your desire for power created a chasm
between your sons. Bar,” she looked sadly at him, “it will be
between you and your brother to solve this issue. I am sorry
I could thwart this situation, but I feel my original visions, like
Rafferty’s, are on the mark. Your father’s greed is festering in your brother’s soul like a boil.”
“I will never,” Bar stared at Bjorn as he tried to impress upon
the other man how serious he was, “ever want the throne. It
is yours. I do not want it. Your title is an empty one brother
because it comes with conditions on everything which makes you a creature of the Queen Mother. All I want is to worship at the feet of my Queen. I hold no allegiance to either of you.
I am her protector, her beast and my heart rests solely in her
hands.”
“I will be king!”
“You will be king,” Bar agreed, “but you will still be forced to
kneel at her whim. You will be king, but she is the Queen of Kings and Queens and guess who that includes, king who will
bow to his Queen.”
“Never. I will never bow to another.”

Jacqueline looked at Oberon, “you will take your son and leave this place. Plan your little war, king, but it is fruitless. You cannot win against powers you will never begin to understand.”
“I do not want war,” Oberon said suddenly. “I only want my sons together. They should be ruling side by side as brothers! Think of the power we will wield!”
“Wilder, please take them from this place and deposit them
back in their throne room. We are done here.”
“Yes my Queen,” Wilder grabbed both men as Jacqueline
removed their binds and disappeared but was back in
seconds.
The minute he was close, she fell backward into his arms, her
eyes closing.
As her mate panicked, Fawn whispered, “she exhausted
herself keeping us shielded. Take her home, my sons. She
needs rest.”
