Jacqueline looked at the twins staring at her curiously before looking back at Bar. “Well? Answer me. If I did this to myself, how do I undo it?”

“You need to let yourself feel.” Bar shrugged.

“How?”

“You are asking the wrong bear,” he laughed lowly. “I literally cut off everyone in my world to come live among strangers and while I’d have a beer in their pub or dine in their restaurant, I’m not exactly holding hands around a campfire singing country songs with them. If anything, I’m the male version of you. I’m pretty sure we’re equally jaded and tired out from emotional entanglements.”

“We can ask the priestess but,” Rafferty said softly, “it might be as simple as to open your heart and your mind to the possibility of a loving relationship. The more you open up to your family, community, and mates, the more you’ll feel the connections.”

She rolled her eyes, “there needs to be an easier way.” Bar’s laugh made her frown. “What is so funny?”

“Does it hurt?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never had one.”

“Mine did but it is different for bears and shifters. My wife bit me. Sunk her teeth nearly to my collar bone. I did the same to her. It hurt like a bitch but then it felt incredible and then the mate pull intensified and we mated right there on the ceremonial altar,” Bar’s voice took on a reverent tone.

“Were there people there?”

Wilder’s threat was punctuated by Rafferty’s heavy breath.

“Good grief,” she rolled her eyes. “I thought fairies were light and bright and sunshine and rainbows.”
