’Hello daughter.’ My dad’s voice echoed in my head. I froze at first hearing it but tried not to make a big deal out of it. Everyone was already treating me like I was made of glass. I didn’t want to give them a reason to treat me any more differently.
’Get out of my head.’ I demanded.
’Why am I still in your head? You’ve been here long enough? Why haven’t you been marked and mated to the Alpha and tied to his pack. You’re still nothing but a disappointment.’ He mocked me.
’You know exactly why we haven’t been able to proceed with our marking and mating. If those bastards hadn’t tried to kill me, probably under your orders, then things would be different.’ I retorted.
’Yeah. That was a genius plan. Having the wannabe Luna set you up like that. Too bad they got caught.’ He says.
"Too bad to you.’ I say.
’I want them back. Right now.’ He says.
’Aren’t you speaking with Tyler. He’s the one that you need to take this up with.’ I say.
’No. I am taking it up with you. You give me Mason and the others and you can keep Bella. How about that?’ He suggested.
’That’s a pretty shit deal. I already have Bella.’ I say.
’I can take her back at any time. You know that I can.’ He taunts me.
’In the old pack you could. Not here.’ I laugh. But I hear him growl at me through the link.
"Tessa. Are you alright?" Ethan asked. Obviously noticing that I was mind linking with someone.
"My dad was just in my head. Ethan, don’t let Bella out of your site. I’ll be back soon." I say getting up and walking away without any further discussion.
I went to the front of the packhouse and got in one of the many cars that were there and I drove to the boarder where I saw Tyler standing in front of Cade, Carter and a group of warriors. Alpha Matthias, dad and their warriors were on the other side of the boarder facing off.
They turned to look at the car as it approached and Tyler’s eyes almost bugged out of his head when he saw me get out of the car. I made my way through the warriors and Tyler wrapped a protective arm around me as I stood beside him.
"My father is trying to bargain with me. He says that we can keep Bella if we return the warriors that attacked me." I explain to Tyler. He nods his head a couple of times and then started laughing in dad’s face.
"You’re a little late their pal. What they did was an act of war. Did you really think they were going to walk out of here?" Tyler asked trying to contain his laughter.
"You killed them?" Matthias roared loudly.
"No. I did." I admitted sternly and unwavering.
"You little bitch. You aren’t even a member of this pack yet. That’s how I can still mind link with you. I can take you back whenever the fuck I want." My father gritted through his teeth. And that’s when I noticed more of our warriors step out from behind trees and boulders to show that Matthias and dad were outnumbered. Even with their warriors standing behind them.
"Tessa is never going anywhere near you again. And those bastards didn’t get what they deserved. She killed them quickly. One bullet to the head. Each of them. They deserved torture which is what I was planning on giving them. But it’s done, and their bodies have burnt. So why don’t you all fuck off back to where you belong. Tessa, Bella and everyone that you think you own, is staying right here." Tyler demanded.
"This isn’t over." Matthias gritted out.
"I didn’t think it was." Tyler says back with a smirk. So they turned around in a huff and left.
Tyler turned to look at me with confusion on his face a little bit of anger.
"You should not have come here." He tells me.
"My dad was mind linking me. Threatening to take Bella. I had to come here and face him. I needed him to know that I was the one that killed them. I wasn’t going to let you take the fall for that. I didn’t want you to. I wanted them to know that it was me." I say.
"Well, you just stood up to your father. How does that feel?" Tyler asked.
"I feel like I’m gonna faint." I say honestly.
"I’ll drive back with Tessa. Cade, can you get the other cars back?" Tyler asked wrapping his arm around me again.
"Sure thing." Cade says. And Tyler walked me to the car and opened the passenger side door for me to get in and then he got in the drivers seat. As soon as he started the engine I started having trouble breathing.
"Are you alright?" Tyler asked.
"Holy fuck. What the fuck did I just do? I can’t breathe." I say.
"It’s just a panic attack. You did awesome in front of your father. You stood up to him like never before. You were great out there. And you held it together." He said.
"Yeah. That was the adrenaline. But now, not so much." I say finding it harder to breathe.
"Alright. Deep breaths. In and out." Tyler says starting to coax me into breathing deep breaths.
I did what he said until I could finally calm down a bit and I started breathing normally again. But I could still feel my hands sweating and I was shaking a little bit.
Tyler rubbed my shoulder and back and just talked to me calmly until I was back to normal.
"What the hell is that?" I asked alarmed. But when I looked at Tyler I saw that his eyes were glazed over as he was mind linking with someone.
Tyler then jumped up out of bed and ran for the door and I got up and followed him. He ran down three flights of stairs, and we met Cade at the bottom of the stairs and we ran to the basement.
We ran down the stairs and the smell of blood hit my nose immediately. Not blood from the men that I shot. This was fresh.
We got down to Rachel’s cell and the guard that was watching the prisoners was lying on the ground with his throat ripped out and Rachel wasn’t in her cell anymore. Someone let her out.
"I knew it. There was another traitor. Where are the other prisoners? The ones that were hiding Rachel?" I asked.
"They were released this morning." Cade answered.
"So, no one saw anything. That’s typical." I say.
"Cade, get every single person out looking for her. NOW." Tyler gritted through his teeth. But when he looked at us, it wasn’t him talking. His eyes were completely black. His wolf was in control right now. I guess this pissed him off more than I realized.
"Alpha. A warrior just linked me. Two warriors have been found dead in the woods. Near the border. Rachel’s scent was at the scene. She’s off the territory. She’s gone." Cade told Tyler.
This is the first time I had ever seen Tyler completely lose his temper. He ran from the dungeon and shifted into his magnificently huge black wolf while still in the house, crashing through the glass doors out the back and headed straight to the woods. I realized that was the first time I had ever seen his wolf. He was beautiful. A gorgeous beast. But definitely with a temper.
"He’s not going to do anything stupid. Is he?" I asked.
"I don’t know. He was looking forward to putting Rachel on trial. And he hates traitors." Cade says.
"Do you think he’s going after Matthias and dad on his own?" I asked panicked.
"Oh crap. That’s exactly where he’s going. Because they will help her." Cade says as Ethan came downstairs.
"Tell your men to get ready. We’re all going. Now." Ethan says.
"Do you guys even have a plan?" I asked.
"Not really. But we’re following the Alpha. He’s attacking and we’re going too." Ethan says.
Cade assembled all the warriors at the packhouse and he was standing in front of them with Carter, Ethan, Wyatt and Tobias.
"Our Alpha is going after Blood Moon pack. He’s already gone. A traitor let Rachel out of the cell’s and they have so far killed three of our warriors. We’re following Alpha Tyler. Are you coming?" Cade asked. And all the warriors immediately started shifting into their wolves. Saying that they were going as well. They were following the Alpha. Cade shifted and led the wolves into the woods and straight into battle. Leaving us behind to watch. To watch and do nothing.
