Chapter 23: Chapter 23

Tyler and I were still in our wolf forms when that witch turned to look directly at me with blackened eyes and hissed ’Tesssssa.’ Almost like she was calling to me. It was the same voice that I heard the other times. She was the one doing this. But why was a witch messing around with me.

Tyler jumped in front of me and crouched into an attack position and bared his teeth at her. Trying to protect me.

’Tyler, don’t. She can’t cross the boarder. That’s why she hasn’t done it yet.’ I mind linked him.

’How do you know that?’ He asked.

’I can feel it. There’s a shield around the territory keeping her out.’ I say.

’Who the fuck put a shield up?’ He asked.

"Your mother did." The witch replied. Holy fuck, she could hear our thoughts. We were so fucked right now.

’My mother wasn’t a witch.’ I say.

"No. But she was friends with one. And the shield isn’t around your territory. Not technically. It’s around Tessa. Whatever territory she’s in, the shield is around." The witch says.

’So, you can’t hurt her then.’ Tyler says relieved.

"I wouldn’t say that." She smirked. When suddenly the roots from the trees near us started snaking up from the ground and coming closer to us. We backed away from them and they started coming after us.

We turned to run back to the packhouse, to get out of the forest but every tree we had to dodge as the roots were coming up from the ground.

We dove out of the woods together and were back on the ground of the packhouse where there were no trees near us and we turned back to see them all settle back down into the earth. Tyler and I looked at each other and then shifted back and got dressed and went inside.

"Alright. What the actual fuck." I said. " My mother was friends with a witch. My father is a vampire. What else is there in my life? Am I part faerie too?" I asked.

"Faeries are extinct." Tyler says.

"No their not. They just live on a different realm then we do because vampires were killing them and they were going to go extinct." I mumbled out before I realized what I had said. And Tyler looked at me with a raised eyebrow. " See. How the fuck do I even know that?" I yelled throwing my arms up in the air.

"What’s going on?" Cade asked coming into the room with Bella.

"Oh nothing. We just got attacked by a witch who tried to use the trees in the woods to trap us there." I say like it was nothing and I walked off. But they both turned back to look at Tyler.

"Yeah. It’s true." Is all that Tyler says before also walking out of the room.

Bella came to find me in the library and I was pulling out every book that we had on witch’s. I needed to know what I was dealing with here. With this witch that was obviously working against me as well. Otherwise, why would she use the trees to try and trap me.

I also grabbed my sketchbook and I started sketching her face while Bella was doing the research. I needed a photo to take to show Adam. To see if he knew her or anything about this Josiah character that we had absolutely no information on.

Once I finished the sketch I called Tyler and he met me at the dungeon stairs. We went down there together and we stopped at his cell, which was one of the nicer cell’s. At least it had a bed in it.

I hold up the picture immediately and he could by the look on my face that I wasn’t in the mood to play games.

"Oh. So you met Annabelle." Adam says.

"Everything you know about her. Go." I demanded.

"Not much. She’s a powerful witch. Also Josiah’s bedwarmer. For now anyway. Until he finds someone else." Adam says.

"I don’t give a shit who is fucking who. I want to know why she’s at the boarder of this territory trying to attack me using tree roots." I gritted through my teeth.

"Holy shit. So, it’s true. The shield follows you wherever you go. That’s some powerful shit man." Adam says. And I growl when he doesn’t answer my question. " Alright, sorry. I heard about the shield but I just didn’t know that there was actually a witch powerful enough to do it. All I know about Annabelle is that she’s the witch in charge. Josiah has more of them. He’s something of a collector. He has vampires with unique abilities. He has witch’s that can do all sorts of shit. And she is one of the most powerful ones that he has." Adam explained.

"Why is he after me?" I asked.

"Because you’re Angelo’s daughter. Once Angelo discovers that you’re alive and that Josiah has you, he will do whatever Josiah wants." Adam says. And my face softens straight away.

"What do you mean ’when he discovers that I’m alive’?" I asked confused. And Adam hit himself in the head.

"Josiah really is going to kill me." Adam muttered to himself.

"Why does Angelo think that I’m dead?" I demanded.

"Because Daniel knew that you and Addison were running away with him. He grabbed one of your shirts and got your blood on it as well as your mother’s blood on it and left it near the place you were meant to meet Angelo that day when you were running away. Angelo assumed that Daniel killed you both. That’s when he really changed. He started going crazy after that. I mean, he was crazy before that. But your mother kept him calm. He was going to change everything for his family. But then he lost his family and he had nothing left." Adam explained.

"Where is Angelo now?" I asked.

"I don’t know." Adam says.

"Don’t make me hurt you like I did yesterday." I threatened him.

"I’d listen to her bro. She’s not bluffing. She’ll do it." Tyler says casually leaning against the cell bars.
