By the following night Tyler had caught Cade up on everything that was going on in New Orleans and Cade was to be acting Alpha of the pack while we were away. But we didn’t know how long that was going to be for.
So the following night when everyone woke up and were ready to party I noticed that there was barely anyone around the mansion.
I found Angelo in the courtyard with Mitchell having a pretty heated argument until they saw me and stopped. And Mitchell stormed off.
"Was it something I said?" I asked sarcastically.
"No. He just doesn’t like have werewolves in the mansion. It’s taken us a long time to draw lines and barriers where every species belong. And he thinks that I am breaking all the rules now." Angelo explained.
"If we’re causing too much trouble then we can leave. We can go back home and you can call me if and when you find out any information of Josiah." I say.
"No. You’re not leaving. I will make all these vampires disappear before I tell you to leave." Angelo says. And I smile at him. He reaches out and feels my hair.
"I forgot just how blonde your hair was. I never even had a photo of you. I thought I would have plenty of chances to get photos of you when you were living with me. But that didn’t happen." He says.
"Well, I’m only 17. We’ve still got a long time to get to know each other." I say.
"Yeah. The rest of your life. But you will need to go back to Maine eventually." He says.
"Yeah. We can’t stay too long. Tyler has responsibilities back home. And so do I. We both need to get back." I say.
"Well, I know that Josiah found out about you from Daniel. Daniel thought that he was your father but Josiah but it together and figured out that you belonged to me. He’s been biding his time before he came for you." Angelo explained.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because he knew that you would be useless to him until you were grown. But then he needed to speed things up when he found out that you were mated to an Alpha. And he wanted to get to you before you were marked. But it looks like that didn’t happen either." Angelo says pulling my hair back and seeing the mark on my neck.
"Nope. It didn’t happen. Tyler will be able to find me if he takes me." I say.
"Unless he shoots you up with wolfsbane or chains you up with silver." Angelo says. There was nothing I could do about the silver but little did Angelo know, I had built up quit an immunity to wolfsbane. So, Josiah would have to use a lot more than the recommended dose. And I doubt he knew that part.
"Do you know what he wants me for?" I asked.
"Not yet. We’re still looking in to it. I’ve got a few people on the inside with Josiah. I’ve had them on the inside for years. Ever since I knew that Josiah was a threat. So he won’t suspect them. He trusts them completely." Angelo explains.
"Wow. You really think ahead. I guess we are alike." I say. "So, no party tonight?" I asked.
"No. That’s more Mitchell’s thing. And he does that mostly when I’m not here. Otherwise they take their parties elsewhere. He knows that I don’t have time for that shit. He thinks I’m getting too old." Angelo says.
"You are, aren’t you?" I asked.
"650 is not that old." He says.
"Since I’m half vampire, does that mean I am going to live longer?" I asked.
"I don’t know. Do you want to?" He asked.
"I don’t want to live without Tyler." I admit.
"Spoken like a true mate. I honestly don’t know the answer to that. You could turn him into a half breed as well if you’re worried about it. Do you have a blood thirst?" He asked.
"No. I don’t. Never have." I say.
"That’s interesting. So, do you have any vampire powers?" He asked.
"Well, apparently I can compel people. I only just figured that out. I know that I can jump higher than other people. I can fight pretty good. But I’ve had a lot of training." I say.
"Good. What about witchcraft. Have you got any powers there. You mentioned that you could feel the other witch’s powers." He says.
"What does witchcraft have to do with anything?" I asked.
"Well, because my mother was a witch. That’s how all of my siblings and myself because vampires. She put a spell on us. Or a curse. However you want to look at it." He says.
"You weren’t just bitten?" I asked.
"No. So my mother was a natural born witch and my father was a werewolf as well. Which also makes me a half breed of sorts. I don’t have witchy powers." He explains.
"That is so unreal." I say.
"I’m sorry to spring all of this on you." He says.
"No. Don’t apologize. It’s about time I started learning some family history. No one else ever tells me anything. And I can’t find any information about my mother’s family." I say.
"She came from a pack in Ohio. That’s probably why. Daniel was passing through there once and saw her and just took her and claimed her as his." Angelo explained.
"The more I learn about that son of a bitch, the more I really start to hate." I say. I then heard something behind me and turned to see Tyler coming out from behind one of the pillars.
"How’s everything going out here?" Tyler asked.
"Good. Angelo is already starting to get information on Josiah. But the one crucial question remains unanswered. What does he want with me." I say.
"Well, I don’t know if it’s a good thing to travel until we have these answers. It was dangerous enough coming here knowing that he’s got witch’s working for him. he might try to grab you on the way back." Tyler says wrapping his arms around my waist.
"I agree. It’s too dangerous. And especially because no one knows exactly where he is. My contacts will be calling again shortly. I’ll let you know more when I know more." Angelo says.
"That’s because his mother was a witch. She turned Angelo and his siblings into vampires. She cursed them. Why the hell would I want any part of that women in me?" I asked.
"I don’t know. But if there is that part in you, then you need to know. It might be our only hope of finding answers and getting help. Maybe fighting Josiah." He says.
Not long after that someone knocked on the door so Tyler answered it and Angelo came inside.
"Alright. I just heard from my contact inside Josiah’s camp. He is in Louisiana. He’s trying to keep his distance though so that we don’t know that he’s here. He just wants his witch to scare us a little to come out of hiding. And come out of the mansion. But that’s not going to happen. He had a few soldiers with him. He has several vampires working for him but apparently our pack took down a lot of vampires when they attacked us recently." Angelo says sounding impressed.
"They picked a fight with the wrong pack." Tyler says.
"I’m not arguing there. Anyway, they are still planning on taking Tessa. Weather she is mated to an Alpha or not. Apparently Josiah has it in his head that Tessa is extra special." Angelo says.
"She is." Tyler says bluntly.
"I agree. But not in the same way. Tessa is werewolf, witch and vampire. Once she taps fully into her vampire and werewolf roles, then she will be pretty unstoppable." Angelo explains.
"And Josiah wants to kill me before that happens." I say.
"No. Josiah wants you to tap into those powers. So that you can pass them down to the children that you are apparently going to have with him." Angelo says and Tyler growled.
"He wants me as a baby making machine?" I asked.
"Yeah. That what it sounds like." Angelo says. And this time I growled at the thought of that.
I wasn’t a lab rat. I wasn’t a baby making machine. I wasn’t going to pump out an army for him just so he can kill off my kind. There was no way in hell.
"So, that’s why I bought someone to meet you." Angelo says opening the bedroom door. And in stepped an older women with a bag that had some wicked smelling ingredients in them.
"She’s a witch." I state.
"Yes. And she is going to help you. If you are going to fight Josiah and this shadow witch. Then you need to become a witch as well." Angelo says.
"I don’t like the idea of this. Shouldn’t her powers just come naturally?" Tyler asked.
"They should. But they won’t come fast enough. She’s already under attack. So we need to move things along." Angelo insisted.
So the women walked into out room and started putting jars down on the table and told us all to have a seat around the table. She pulled out a small bowl and put some ingredients into in while chanting in a different language and I looked at Tyler. He could tell that I was really worried and he squeezed my hand, letting him know that I was still there.
Once the witch was finished crushing up the pills she then grabbed my other hand and tipped them into it and forced it into a fist while still chanting. The room started getting really windy and the candles blew out, and then she looked up and her eyes were glowing white.
She was still chanting and then out of nowhere and with no warning at all, she put her hand to my chest and screamed. But the pain that I felt made me scream with intense agony as well with a bright light coming from her hand on my chest.
