Northside Central Hospital boasted the best medical resources in the country. After Jonah Granger returned from abroad, he took a position there as a consulting cardiovascular surgeon, using the excuse that it would be easier to oversee her physical therapy.
Young, incredibly successful, and a graduate of a prestigious international university, he was already an absolute legend within the medical system.
Everyone knew Dr. Granger had a limitless future, and plenty of top executives clamored to set him up with their daughters.
What did he say back then?
Right.
He had said, "There is only one person I love. Please, ladies and gentlemen, don't scare her away."
They all assumed the woman Jonah was so devoted to was Vivian.
Even Vivian herself had believed it.
But who could have guessed?
It was all just a smokescreen to hide his secret obsession with Amara Fairchild.
As the memories flooded back, Vivian stared at the familiar hospital building. Aside from finding it utterly laughable, she felt absolutely nothing.
She stepped inside.
She had been here countless times and was on a first-name basis with many of the doctors and nurses.
Just as she reached the corridor leading to the VIP suites, the sound of gossiping drifted over.
"Dr. Granger is so incredibly gentle... Did you guys notice? He's been guarding Amara's room around the clock these past few days. He even hand-delivers every meal. Honestly, he treats her better than a real girlfriend."
"Come on, Amara is his girlfriend's sister. It makes sense for him to be a little extra attentive, right?"
"I don't know... it feels way too attentive."
"I think so, too."
The first nurse lowered her voice. "You didn't see the way Dr. Granger looks at her. The sexual tension is off the charts."
"Then... doesn't that make Vivian kind of pathetic?"
