Chapter 202
Vivian paused for a second and looked back.
The lighting was terrible, and the fire exit felt as pitch-black as a cave. The man’s tall figure stood right at the edge of the shadows, half-hidden in gloom, half in darkness, subtly obscuring his handsome face.
She smiled. “Your method of hitting on women is certainly… bold, Liam.”
Liam dropped his cigarette on the ground and crushed it beneath his shoe.
He took two steps forward, stopping right in front of her.
A nearby window was cracked open, and the breeze carried his scent straight to her senses.
He smelled like rich sandalwood.
“Asking you is me giving you a chance. Playing dumb won’t do you any good, Miss Fairchild.
His words were a total riddle.
Vivian looked up in genuine confusion. “But I’ve honestly never met you.”
“You’ve never been to the UK?”
“…I have. I studied in the UK for a few years.”
That wasn’t exactly a secret. If he wanted to dig into her past, it would only take him a few
minutes.
Liam stayed silent. His bottomless gaze felt like a dark abyss, making it impossible to guess what was running through his mind.
Vivian discreetly took a half-step back. He was too close, already encroaching on her personal space.
There was something unsettling about this man.
He radiated a dangerously ambiguous aura-mysterious, predatory, and darkly alluring.
“Are you sure you haven’t mistaken me for someone else?” Vivian flexed her fingers gracefully, leaning her side lazily against the wall. She struck a stunning, relaxed pose, projecting an attitude of ‘if you want to chat, I’ll humor you.’
“Could I be some girl you fell in love with at first sight but could never track down?”
Liam let out a low scoff, his lips curling into a rakish, seductive smirk.
He closed the distance, not giving her a single second to react, and slammed his arm against the wall right beside her ear, effectively cornering her.
They were so close now that their breaths practically mingled.

“And what if I said yes?
‘Then you’ve definitely got the wrong person, Vivian replied calmly, completely ignoring the thick, intimate tension he was deliberately trying to build.
“Five years ago, in a bar in the UK, I was set up by a woman who then swiped every last bit of cash I had on me. Tell me… shouldn’t I track that woman down and get my revenge?”
He leaned in closer as he spoke, his crisp, minty breath brushing against her skin,
Vivian tilted her head back to avoid the proximity.
But the wall was right behind her, there was nowhere left to retreat.
She maintained eye contact, completely unfazed, a teasing glint playing at the corners of her eyes. “I wouldn’t have guessed you were the type to hold such a grudge. I’ll have to make sure I never get on your bad side.”
Liam scoffed, ignoring her remark entirely.
His eyes traced the curve of her jawline and traveled downward, brazenly assessing her figure.
Curves in all the right places.
A tiny waist.
Long, flawless legs.
That was his blunt, immediate evaluation of her.
“Why is Silas with you?” he asked, switching topics entirely.
