The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 209

Chapter 209

“I want to clear up this misunderstanding between us. Vivian, didn’t you tell me before that I didn’t understand you? I’ve made sure to learn everything now. Let’s stop fighting, okay? We…”

He reached out to grab her hand, but Vivian instinctively took a step back, dodging his touch.

“Dr. Granger, did I not make myself clear enough?”

Vivian’s face was completely devoid of emotion, her voice dead flat.

“We broke up, and I have absolutely no feelings for you anymore. I have a new boyfriend now It’s inappropriate for you to keep saying things that could be easily misunderstood. Not to mention…”

A mocking smirk finally broke across her face. “You paid for a hit on me three years ago, and I cracked your head open three years later. Did I knock the sense out of you? You really want to get back together? Aren’t you afraid I’ll chop you to pieces in your sleep?”

Jonah slowly lowered his outstretched hand. He didn’t look embarrassed, but the gentle facade in his dark, narrow eyes faded significantly.

“I assume you wouldn’t be stupid enough to make the same impulsive mistake twice.”

“Impulsive?”

Vivian stared at the man in front of her. This was the real Jonah Granger. Even when he was speaking softly, that sickening sense of entitlement bled through his every word. It was like a guillotine perpetually suspended over her head. He wasn’t asking for a reconciliation; he was offering a royal pardon.

‘I’ve already lowered myself to this extent, why aren’t you begging to come back to me?’

“It wasn’t an impulse.”

Vivian pressed her lips together, enunciating every syllable. “No matter where I am or what time it is, I will make sure you get exactly what you deserve. Do you understand?”

“Are you saying you still want to keep playing this game with me?”

It was impossible to communicate with this man.

Confidence, was fine, and his elite status certainly gave him a leg up in the world, but this level of delusion was practically a psychiatric condition.

Vivian rolled her eyes. “If you don’t have anything else to say, then goodbye-”

“Vivian.”

Jonah cut her off, his tone perfectly measured. “The day you got into that car accident three years ago, who were you on your way to meet? Aren’t you curious to know where he is now?

“…” Every curse word Vivian had loaded in her throat suddenly vanished. She couldn’t speak

“You know?”

“I could know.”

Jonah’s expression was utterly composed, his dark eyes locking onto hers. “It all depends on your choice.”

In other words, get back together with him, and he would give her the clue about that person.

Refuse, and he suddenly knew nothing.

Vivian’s hands curled into tight fists at her sides, trembling slightly before she forced herself

to relax them.

“You really know how to shatter whatever lingering illusions I had of you, Dr. Granger. To be this truly despicable, you must have committed some serious sins in your past life.”

She let out a harsh laugh. “Unfortunately for you, if there’s one thing I despise more than anything in this world, it’s a despicable coward. Since you love hiding things so much, you better hide that person well. Hell, you better go hide right next to him. Because if you catch me on a bad day, I might just come back and jog your memory with another blunt object.”

Vivian didn’t linger for another second. She turned on her heel and marched out the door.
