Chapter 221
Every time that realization hit her, it brought a suffocating wave of despair.
Grace Gifford bit her lip, pushed past her breaking point.
“Silas.”
“I told you earlier, it was my fault for rejecting you, but you can’t place all the blame on me. can you? Back then, the news about your eyes was everywhere, and the Gifford family was, dragged into the spotlight. You have to consider the position I was in. Besides, 1 already apologized to you. Tell me, what else do you want from me?”
Her voice was thick with resentment, making Simon Young, who was standing right outside,
shudder.
He had been by Mr. Sterling’s side for years, and she was the only one who dared speak to
him like that.
Oh-wait.
Recently, another one had appeared.
Silas Sterling remained completely unfazed, his handsome, aristocratic face devoid of any
emotion.
He didn’t bother answering her question, instead saying, “I have work to do. Go home, Grace.”
It was as if the last ounce of courage had been drained from Grace, her head dropping as heavy tears cascaded down her cheeks.
“Fine, I’ll leave.”
“Just keep this distance between us forever! I’ll never come looking for you again!”
She turned and ran, yanking the door open with surprising force.
Simon instinctively threw his hands up and stepped back, looking like he was surrendering.
Silas frowned, his voice dropping. “What are you standing around for? Take her home. If something happens to her, are you going to explain it to Chairman Gifford?”
“Huh? Oh… yes, sir!”
Simon quickly chased after her.
Downstairs, Grace stood by her car, muffling her sobs. She was stunning to begin with, and her tear-streaked face only made her look more heartbroken and fragile.
Hearing footsteps approaching, a surge of hope rushed through her chest. She turned around. “Si- Why is it you?”

Chapter 221
Simon rubbed his nose awkwardly. “Miss Gifford, Mr. Sterling asked me to take you home Given your public profile, it wouldn’t be safe otherwise.”
Grace was an incredibly famous celebrity, and currently the face of several major brands under Sterling Enterprises. From a PR standpoint, they couldn’t afford for anything to happen to her.
She let out a bitter laugh. “So, this is all that’s left between us now?”
“Mr. Sterling…”
Simon had barely started speaking when he realized the woman in front of him was staring intently.
How could he describe that look?
She was desperate for a lifeline.
“Mr. Sterling and Miss Fairchild are doing really well together. Miss Gifford, you should probably just move on.”
Simon felt like a monster. As soon as the words left his mouth, he watched the bright spark in Grace’s eyes extinguish completely. Like a walking corpse, she pulled open the door and got into the car.
Was she going to do something drastic?
Simon felt a headache coming on, completely out of his depth on how to comfort her.
Throughout the drive, he rattled off every cliché piece of comforting advice he could think of, but the woman in the backseat remained dead silent, entirely closed off from the world.
It wasn’t until they were almost at her place that Grace’s hoarse voice finally broke the silence. “Are they really doing that well?”
Simon glanced in the rearview mirror and replied, “Yes, very
A marriage was far more binding than just dating, after all.
“Have they been living together?”
