Chapter 261
The phone rang for a long time before the call finally connected. A cold, magnetic voice delivered a single word: “Speak.”
“Did you know that for some people, being apart for even an hour feels like an absolute eternity?”
Silas Sterling remained silent.
At that moment, the large conference table below him was packed with executives, all of them looking on in sheer horror.
They had never witnessed a scene like this before. Mr. Sterling was actually taking a call in the middle of a high-level meeting? And judging by his tone, it wasn’t even a pressing business matter.
“Did you call me just to spew this nonsense?”
“No.”
Vivian Fairchild toyed with the charm on her handbag, her voice dropping lower. “I missed you.”
Silas briefly closed his eyes, his long, elegant fingers suddenly curling into a half-fist as a sharp edge flared in his demeanor.
The executives below didn’t dare breathe, uniformly lowering their heads.
Who on earth had the power to make the boss so… furious yet so restrained?
After a moment, the man’s deep, icy voice echoed, “Stop playing games all day, understand?”
He sounded devoid of emotion, but anyone with a brain could hear the blatant warning in his words.
Vivian let out an airy ‘oh. “How am I playing games? Is it a crime to miss you?”
Two seconds later, he simply hung up on her.
That was certainly in character for him.
Staring at her phone, Vivian curved her lips into a faint smile for no apparent reason. After a long moment, she stepped out of the car, walked around the hood, slid into the driver’s seat, and started the engine.
When she returned to the company, perhaps due to a psychological effect, even the underground parking garage felt disturbingly quiet.
She parked the car but remained in her seat, showing no intention of getting out.
“Miss Fairchild.”
Before long, a woman’s voice drifted through the window.
Vivian looked up to see Grace Gifford gracefully approaching, every step exuding the superiority of a wealthy heiress.

Chapter 261
She wore a stunning cream-colored designer dress, her long hair pinned back in an elegant updo. She looked undeniably beautiful.
Vivian raised an eyebrow. “You’re looking for me?”
“Am I not allowed to?”
Grace was clearly prepared for this confrontation, a shallow smile gracing her lips. “Or are you too scared to face me now?”
“Miss Gifford, you possess an extraordinary level of overconfidence.” Vivian knew that touching Grace would upset a certain man, but since trouble had come knocking at her door, what reason did she have to play the coward?
Grace gestured for her to step out of the car. “How about we have a little chat?”
Truthfully, they had absolutely nothing to discuss.
But Vivian stepped out anyway, leaning casually against her car. “I know you and Silas used to be close, but he is my man now. Miss Gifford, given everything you’ve pulled recently, it wouldn’t be excessive if I hired someone to beat you up. Do you know how the real world deals with homewreckers?”
Even though Grace had mentally prepared herself, the barb still stung.
A homewrecker.
How could that label possibly be applied to her?
