Liam stared blankly. "...What did you just say?"
"What do you mean, what did I say?"
People always tried to look busy when they were embarrassed. Vivian grabbed a tissue and wiped her hands, though there was absolutely nothing on them.
"It's just... wasn't I trying to seduce Silas? He wasn't taking the bait, so if I couldn't sleep with him, I had to drug him. But he found out, and then..."
"And it blew up in your face?"
"Yeah."
"..."
Yeah? That was all she had to say?
Liam let out a short, disbelieving laugh, clearly fuming. "Are you completely out of your mind?"
"Why are you insulting me?"
"So what if I am?"
He leaned in and poked her forehead, his tongue pressing against the inside of his cheek. "It's only my good manners keeping me from wringing your neck. If you ever pull a stunt like that again, I'll end you myself!"
"..."
Vivian stepped back, staying quiet.
After a couple of seconds, she looked up.
The man's face was backlit by the glow of the room, giving his hair a messy, attractive halo. He stood tall and sharp, radiating an undeniable, striking magnetism.
Just as the atmosphere grew strange, footsteps sounded at the door.
Simon's gaze darted between the two of them. He forced a stiff smile. "Liam..."
"Don't you start with me."
Liam scowled.
Whoever walked in on this situation was bound to catch his wrath, especially since it was the assistant of the exact man he did not want to think about right now: Silas.
"Tell your boss to watch his back. He'd better sleep with one eye open!" With that, he stormed off.
Simon stood there in stunned silence.
