The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 358

By going through those motions, she figured she could finally become a normal person.

But reality refused to grant her that wish.

She had wanted to live a simple life, only to step right into another elaborate deception.

Vivian lowered her gaze, staring coldly at the hand holding hers. Her eyes were terrifyingly frigid. "I have a terrible flaw. When things go against my wishes, I forcefully rip control back into my own hands. Whether I live or die, whether it ends in triumph or ruin, I am the one who gets to make the call."

With a gentle twist, she effortlessly broke free from his grip.

"You're tainted, and your information was practically worthless."

Her red lips parted, her tone flat. "So, as far as I'm concerned... you're out."

It took a long moment after her stunning figure vanished from sight for Jonah to finally snap back to reality. He wanted to do something, anything, but he had no idea where to even begin.

He forcefully yanked the door open and chased after her, but the hallway was completely empty.

A few people occasionally walked past in the distance, but none of them were her.

"Vivian..."

His eyes were entirely bloodshot. It felt as though a massive, gaping hole had been torn through his chest. The icy wind howled through it. It wasn't pain he felt, but a profound, suffocating emptiness that was far more agonizing than any physical injury.

Just then, a wobbly figure stumbled past. The man was muttering venomously under his breath, "Vivian, that little bitch... I won't let her get away with this. I swear I'm going to ruin her!"

"Stop right there."

"..."

Harrison Fowler froze, then turned around. His face immediately lit up when he recognized the man. "If it isn't Dr. Granger! Are you practicing at this hospital now? Oh man, if I had known, I would have come to pay my respects sooner."

Jonah's eyes darkened menacingly. He slowly, deliberately rolled up his sleeves.

"Yeah. I drop by occasionally."
