As soon as they were inside the vehicle—and noticing that Zane hadn't climbed in yet—Scarlett violently shoved Vivian against the backseat. Hands flying toward Vivian's throat, she hissed, "You treacherous bitch! You actually dared to sneak out for a private lunch with him? Didn't I explicitly warn you to stay the hell away from him!"
"..."
She looked absolutely feral, no better than a street brawler.
Vivian countered immediately, digging her hands into Scarlett's waist. "Whether I'm a foot away or a mile away, what does it have to do with you? Who are you to him that you're having an absolute meltdown? Get off me!"
"In your dreams!"
Scarlett scoffed aggressively.
Instead of backing off, she swung a leg over and straddled Vivian, pinning her down. "Let me make one thing crystal clear. No woman has ever dared to pull this kind of arrogant crap in front of me! I'm going to teach you a lesson today, or you'll never know why they call me the boss around here!"
She reached up, aiming a vicious pinch at Vivian's cheek—but before she could connect, Vivian grabbed her by the hips.
Whether it was brute strength or perfect leverage, Vivian effortlessly hoisted Scarlett up and tossed her to the side.
Scarlett slid off the leather seat and landed in a crumpled heap on the floorboards.
It was highly undignified.
"Hmph. You really need to evaluate your own weight class before picking fights."
Vivian smoothly straightened her blouse and sat back with perfect posture. "I don't have the energy for your tantrums. Don't test me."
"..."
Scarlett sat frozen on the floorboards for a solid five seconds.
She... she had just been overpowered by Vivian yet again.
So, she couldn't conquer the man, and she couldn't even conquer the woman?
Just as Scarlett was spiraling into an existential crisis, Zane approached with lazy strides and pulled open the driver's side door. The moment his bottomless gaze swept over her, a jolt of electricity shot straight through her nervous system.
The drive back was suffocatingly silent. The two women in the backseat sat as far apart as physically possible, arms crossed defensively, radiating an energy that screamed they were mortal enemies.
Arriving at Southwood Estate, Vivian shoved the door open and stepped out.
She had assumed Scarlett would seize the opportunity to stay in the car and forcefully flirt with Zane. Surprisingly, Scarlett hopped out right behind her.
