The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 522

For the past few years, Jonah had been constantly cleaning up Yale's messes. He hadn't expected his brother to show absolutely zero growth, only managing to create bigger disasters.

But this time...

Given that the incident happened on the Granger family's own project, the media shouldn't have caught wind of it so quickly.

Someone was definitely fanning the flames behind the scenes.

The executive manager hesitated before weakly adding, "Mr. Granger, I've had someone look into it. It's highly likely that Mr. Sterling orchestrated the media leak... but given the undeniable fact that Yale did hit those people, our hands are tied."

Jonah's mouth twitched violently. Silas—

It was Silas again!

"I understand."

Spitting out the words, he slammed the phone down.

The study fell into a suffocating silence. He could almost hear the distant, hollow sound of the river flowing outside, a long, empty noise that only fueled his irritation.

Jonah braced both hands heavily on the desk, tilting his head back. His deep eyes stared up at the ceiling as an indescribable, suffocating wave of despair spread over him like a suffocating net.

—

Even though she had deleted Jonah's iMessage, Vivian still paid a small price for it that night, nearly sleeping right through her alarm the next morning.

When she groggily opened her eyes, she was surprised to find a tall shadow still lingering beside her. Silas hadn't left for work yet.

Her eyes flew open, and she propped herself up to look at him.

"Why haven't you left yet? Do you have the day off?"

"Didn't you say you wanted to go for a run?"

The man was leaning casually against the headboard, holding a tablet to check the morning's stock data.

He turned his head, the morning light softening his gaze, making him look incredibly gentle. "Still want to run?"

She hadn't felt it a moment ago, but the second he mentioned it, Vivian suddenly realized how sore her legs and waist were. Groaning, she slid back under the covers.

"This is all your fault... if I knew we were supposed to run today, you should have restrained yourself last night. Look at me, I can barely move. It's a miracle I don't need a doctor."
