The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 59

The moment she stepped inside, she started stripping off her clothes as she walked.

She headed straight for the bathroom.

When she emerged from the shower, her mind felt caught in a hazy yet startling clarity. She stared at her phone for a long time, completely unsure of what she should do next.

Suddenly, her gaze locked onto a specific chat thread.

Grandpa Sterling did say she needed to cultivate a relationship with her future husband...

A few seconds later, the unmistakable chime of a video call echoed through the room.

He wasn't answering?

Vivian frowned. Just as she was about to hang up and try again, the call timer started ticking.

He answered.

Her heart skipped a beat for absolutely no reason.

Her remaining sliver of rationality kicked in, urging her to grab something to cover her chest.

After all, she was only wearing a dangerously loose towel.

But then she thought...

Wasn't Silas blind?

What was there to hide?

The camera feed was pitch black. The man must have pointed his phone at something dark, and it was dead silent on his end.

Vivian confidently adjusted her posture, not even bothering to pull up the slipping towel. Her lips curled into a smirk, and she greeted lightly, "Hi, Silas."

"..."

On the other end of the line.

Silas held the phone with one hand, his long fingers perfectly covering the camera lens. The woman on his screen hadn't shown her face. All he could see was the vast expanse of luminous skin below her neck, an effortlessly seductive view.

His eyes remained completely unmoving, the center of his pupils seemingly devoid of focus.

Hearing no response, the woman grew a little impatient.

"Say something, Silas."

Her coquettish tone was completely natural, as if they were already an engaged couple, making her teasing feel entirely justified.

Vivian bit her lip, making her already flushed lips look even more glossy and inviting.

"Your grandfather said we need to cultivate our relationship and get our marriage certificate first. Don't you want to marry me?"
