The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Vivian was still processing Chloe’s words. Jonah was willing to threaten Dominic Fairchild-it seemed he was dead set on getting her heart valve no matter what.

Amara… really was more important to him than anything else.

“Vivian?”

Chloe waved a hand in front of the camera. “I’m talking to you. What are you zoning out for?

“No, I haven’t seen him.” Vivian snapped back to reality and replied casually, “He’s probably too hideous to show his face in public. He hasn’t made an appearance yet.”

“Damn… this guy is surprisingly patient.”

Chloe suggested, “Do you want me to hire a private investigator to find out what he looks like?”

“Forget it, there’s no need.”

There was no rush for something like that.

Vivian leaned back in her office chair, stretching lazily. “It would be best if he never agreed to this setup. That way, I wouldn’t be breaking my promise to Grandpa Sterling, and I can keep living the glorious single life. Why wouldn’t I want that?”

“I guess that makes sense…” Chloe pouted. “But as long as you have this fake engagement hanging over your head, you can’t exactly go looking for anyone else-”

At that, her eyes widened. “Don’t you dare give me that ‘I don’t believe in love’ crap. You have to date! A bad relationship is always better than no relationship, got it?”

Vivian’s brow twitched slightly, though she gave no response.

After some more random gossip, it was suddenly time for her meeting.

“I have to let you go. The next time you’re in Northside, we’ll get drinks and catch up. properly.”

Chloe flashed a radiant smile, showing off two rows of pearly white teeth.

“It’ll be soon, I promise.”

Vivian didn’t put much stock in the promise. She grabbed her prepared documents and headed to the conference room.

The purpose of the meeting was to streamline their future development focus and outline the direction for major business expansions.

Although Vivian was nominally the boss, she hadn’t frequented the office in the past, so most

of the staff didn’t know much about her.

By the time the meeting wrapped up, quite a few employees were looking at her with stars in their eyes, as if they had just discovered a hidden treasure.

How many female bosses were this stunning, fierce, and fiercely competent?

Theirs!

The female employees, in particular, kept finding excuses to drop off coffee and snacks, slipping in and out of the executive office all day.

Vivian didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but she humored them.

As long as it didn’t interfere with their work, a little innocent fun was perfectly fine.

At five o’clock that evening, her secretary hurried over.

“Boss, there’s a problem.”

Vivian looked up as the secretary practically shoved an iPad into her hands. “There are several news articles making the rounds, and they all seem to be… about you.”

And not just her-Julian was involved, too.

The headlines were highly suggestive.
