The Stand In Wife's Revenge novel Chapter 28

Chapter 28

The door of Avas room clicked shut behind me as I left. I stood in the

hall for a while lost in contemplation as I gazed at the shiny wood

floor. Her brittle face and the way she had gazed at those divorce

documents as though they contained the secret to her past were all

replayed in my mind. Her goal was to recall. Her memory loss was

something I had anticipated but witnessing it firsthand was unique.

The atmosphere was eerie. The woman who had once exuded

unquestionable confidence now appeared lost as though she didnt

feel comfortable in her own skin. After slowly letting out my breath

and running a hand through my hair I went to my room. I closed the

door after entering and leaned against it for a moment before moving

away.

The bedside lamps warm glow cast long shadows throughout the

dimly lit room. I approached the desk drew out the chair and took a

seat staring at the laptop in front of me without saying anything.

sinclair Ava. In the most surprising way she had entered my life and

now found herself living with me.

A woman who had forgotten her true identity. I should have had an

easier time of it. It didnt. The strategy was straightforward. I had only

consented to assist her because I needed her to accomplish her

mission.

I blinked. Once, twice. Three organizations. A halfbilliondollar

fortune. I was aware of her success but this was more than I could

have ever dreamed. As I read on my heart began to race. In terms of

investments and real estate Sinclair Enterprises was a dominant

force. Avalon Holdings focused on innovation and technology. And

Sinclair Luxe? A highend company that catered to the affluent. She

had more than just wealth.

She had authority. And she didnt know. I reclined in my chair and

slowly balled my hands into fists. None of this was recalled by her.

She had no idea what she possessed what she had created or the kind

of empire she might lose.

Liam as well. The man she wed. The man she was attempting to recall

now. I tightened my jaw. Had he always been pursuing her money? I

continued to scroll in search of more details anything that would

shed light on their marriage. Then I caught sight of it.

An image from a wedding. Ava grinned as she stood next to Liam.

However there was something strange about that smile. as though it

were coerced. What about Liam? It was more difficult to read his face.

Triumphant? Proud? I cut my breath short and turned my head away

from the screen. I had believed that secrets were being kept by me.

Now though I wasnt so sure. Ava wasnt merely a woman with memory loss. She had the potential to become a multibillionaire. Additionally

based on what Ive seen so far she had been married to a man who

didnt deserve her. With my mind racing I returned my attention to

the screen. I had to know more. Everything had to be known to me.

I scrolled through the words of a recent article before clicking on it. However my stomach grew more and more uneasy as I read more. After his wife Ava Sinclair left the companys management CEO Liam

Blackwell took over and Sinclair Enterprises has continued to

grow…. I was frozen. The breath caught in my throat.

I went over the sentence again. Yet again. Again and again. Liam.

Sinclair Enterprises CEO. With my fingers clenched against the

mousepad I scrolled down. Additional articles substantiated it. Liam

had taken over all three businesses after Ava vanished. He wasnt

merely her spouse. He had stolen everything she had created.

I gripped the desks edge more tightly. Their marriage wasnt the only issue at hand. What belonged to her was his. Furthermore she was clueless. I took a deep breath attempting to regain my composure but my thoughts were already racing.

Was this legal or had he manipulated the situation so that everything fell into his hands or had she signed something before she vanished? It was too convenient to use the timeline. Ava had disappeared. Liam was in charge now. He was now in complete command of her empire. I made my knuckles white by clenching my fists so tightly. Id

underestimated him.
