The Stand In Wife's Revenge novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50

He probably smiled at his fiancée when he thought no one was looking and it was the betrayal and knowing look between them. I was angry about it. Once

more I looked down at my wristwatch. At this point the ticking of the minutes was more annoying than a reminder of the passing of time. I tried to ignore it

and pushed my wrist forward. Id waited long enough.

It was time to face this. With deliberate movements I retrieved my car keys from the counter feeling their cool metal against my palm. I briefly considered

when I had last seen him as my fingers twitched around the keys. Liam.

I reflected on the fact that we had always been rivals vying for the same things never truly comprehending one another but still being incredibly close. Ava

followed. He had abandoned her. He was a coward for that. I turned and left the piano room. With my footsteps resonating against the polished floors the hallway was silent.

Even though everything was peaceful I could feel the storm brewing inside of me. The pressure of my upcoming steps was like an anchor pressing down on

  1. me. I didnt think twice about going to the garage. The leather of the seat felt cool against my skin as I effortlessly slid into my car and the aroma of the

rich interior and polished wood filled my senses.

As though prepared to respond to my annoyance the engine hummed to life with a gentle growl. I didnt want to be seen so I avoided the main roads. It was

caution not paranoia. I had learned to use caution as a weapon. And it would work out nicely for me tonight.

The speed of the drive exceeded my expectations as my thoughts were racing more quickly than the vehicle could move. Liam was on my mind all the time. When I eventually met the man who had left Ava without giving it a second thought what would I say to him and do? I didnt know.

I knew I would force him to see though. I would help him comprehend his actions and the things he had discarded. The woman he had left behind had been

more valuable than any shortlived promise or engagement ring.

She had been every thing. I slowed down as I saw the restaurant and parked a few blocks away. I wasnt rushing just yet. To make sure I had all the facts I had to watch. Like a predator poised to strike I reclined in my chair and watched the restaurants entrance. I caught a glimpse of him. Liam.

He was seated across from her his head slightly cocked in that manner I so vividly remembered. I could see how his eyes softened as she spoke and how he smiled at her. Something inside of me constricted in disgust. Despite having abandoned Ava this man was grinning as if everything were at his feet.

As if he hadnt committed an unforgivable act. He didnt realize I was here. I would also ensure that he didnt. Not as of yet. Not until I was prepared. The folded piece of paper with the address was in my jacket pocket and I took it out. Holding the paper in my hand was gratifying even though the specifics

were now ingrained in my memory.

Everything was coming together including the time and the address. I could sense how serious the situation was. Liam would come to regret leaving Ava the

day
