The Stand In Wife’s Revenge
Chapter 57
With my heart racing I hastily sat up. I needed to know what Alex had said because it was significant and made the room feel heavier.
In a curious yet nervous tone I asked “What is it Alex?”
My gaze locked with his seeking clarification. He paused his brow furrowed as if he was still considering how best to phrase it. He sighed though and the reached for his phone which had been left on the floor next to his pants.
After fumbling with it for a moment he extended it toward me. Anxiety fluttering in my stomach I took the phone from him. Whatever information he wa about to show me or whatever was displayed on the screen had to be significant.
As soon as I looked down my eyes locked onto the picture that occupied the screen. An expansive stunning estate was depicted in the image it was an amazing property that would have appeared in a luxury publication.
Large and contemporary, the mansion was tucked away in a beautiful setting. It was amazing. I was drawn to more than just the estate though. The streamlined Lamborghini was approaching the gate with a smooth purr from its engine.
My eyes widened as I gazed at the picture then looked back up at Alex my thoughts racing.
I said my veice just above a whisper “What is this?”
Alex took a moment to look at me. His fingers lightly tapped the edges of his phone screen while he maintained eye contact but I could see his jaw tensing
up a little as if he was preparing to speak.
“Its Liams” he muttered lightly.
1 blinked not quite getting it. “Liam?”
As I stared back at the picture a wave of incredulity settled in my chest. How does Liam own something like this?. It seemed nearly impossible that Liam a
person I had known in the past was connected to something so opulent and rich.
I never got the sense from him that he could be so wealthy. Alex let out a sigh which sounded like it was made with frustration and tiredness.
“This is just the beginning” he said acknowledging that there was a lot to process. “Liams wedding is scheduled for one month from now.”
At the mention of Liam’s impending marriage the words hung in the air like a heavy weight and I felt like my whole body froze. I couldnt comprehend what Alex had just said so I just stared at him. The shock of the revelation made everything seem far away and unreal as if my mind had temporarily shut down.
The room seemed to get smaller as if the walls were closing in on me and I could feel my heartbeat quicken. It was oppressive to be silent with each other.
My stomach felt as though my heart had fallen into it.
Something inside of me twisted painfully at the thought that Liam was getting married to someone else? I had behaved that I would be able to move on
and move past everything that had happened but this news felt like a betrayal once more.
Alex was watching me and although I couldnt read his face I could see the worry in his eyes. He didnt like how I looked how tense my shoulders had became and how pale 1 had gone. He saw how deeply this news affected me. I tried to talk but my chest constricted and I was unable to find the right wards. What could I say?

Chapter 57
“Alex.” I said barely raising my voice above a whisper “I had no idea Liam had this much. He could have so much and I had no idea. What happened?”
Alex looked at me and leaned back a little his hand on his knee. Even though his face softened his eyes remained hard. “Ava, Liam has been keeping thing from you. A great deal. But he didnt deserve any of this. It isnt truly his.”
I tried to understand what he was saying blinking. “You’re claiming that he doesnt own it but its all in his name. What do you mean? cars, the estate,
everything.”
Alex nodded in a firm low voice. “Liam wasnt entitled to any of that. Ava, he has been living off of your money. You own everything that he has been
displaying and flaunting.”
I lost my train of thought. The sounds I was hearing were unbelievable. “What?” my heart skipped a beat as I gasped. In any case the words didnt seem to make sense to me. “What do you mean that I own it?”
Alex straightened his posture and met my gaze with a calm steady stare. “You heard me. Everything Liam has been showing off belongs to you. Everything:
the cars, the estate.”
For an extended period I simply gazed at him my mind racing unable to comprehend the gravity of what he had just said. I own it but how? How could I possibly own everything that Liam had been flaunting? It was nonsensical. It was illogical.
