Ava tried to make sense of everything that had just been revealed while sitting up on the bed with the cozy blanket wrapped around her shoulders. She had questions she wasnt yet able to answer and her mind was racing with ideas. Beside her Alex was fiddling with his hands, his movements deliberate and composed as if he hadnt just thrown a bombshell into her life.

The news had arrived too quickly for her to process. With the shock still weighing heavily on her she looked down at her hands. She had possessed everything including cars mansions and opulent items that she had never given much thought to.

How was it possible that she had forgotten everything? How had she not questioned the pricey suitcase the designer clothes the watches with jewels on them? Ava felt her heart racing. Before the mishap she was wealthy. It had all belonged to her. Her world had been so differentso straightforwardprior to the accident but that seemed impossible didnt it?

Her life had been a fresh start a clean slate. She had a glimpse of something that felt like a life taken from her though thanks to Alex. She looked at her image in the mirror across the room and said in a hoarse voice Why didnt I remember?

It felt so strange to see the woman staring back at her as if she were someone completely different. Someone who despite her best efforts she was unable to reach because of her past.

For a brief moment Alex stood silently behind her as if he wanted her to comprehend the seriousness of his words. He had done some research and some digging. The outcome had been astonishing.

With a steady low voice he said Ava I did some more research. Liam’s three businesses were also yours. Prior to the accident before everything changed. You

own them.

Ava looked at him in shock her brain straining to process the barrage of facts. No that cant be right she muttered shaking her head as though ignoring the truth would solve it. What could have happened? How could I have lost everything and not realized it?

How could I have forgotten about it all?. Alex extended his hand to her and took hers tenderly. Even though what he was saying felt too overwhelming to comprehend his touch was comforting and warm making her want to believe it.

Liam stole everything from you, AvaAlex said in a sympathetic tone. Your companies, wealth and life were all taken by him. He removed you from your own reality. Then he ended your marriage.

She felt the words strike her like a ton of bricks deleted. She had been erased by her own spouse. Her husband had deprived her of everything that made her -well herself. How could someone take so much from someone else and only leave behind memories of a life that was no longer even hers?

The thought made her heart ache and her chest tighten. She now realized why she had previously felt lost. Without her even realizing it everything had been taken from her. The person she had been and the life she had previously led were gone.

Ava had a lot of questions and her mind was racing. Not only was it the luxury and wealth but it was also the sense of identity and connection to her former self. How had she missed the warning signs? She was unable to hold on because everything was slipping through her fingers like sand.

The weight of it all overcame her and tears filled her eyes. Her financial loss wasnt the only one. She didnt recognize herself. Wiping a tear from her cheek Alex stepped closer his eyes full of understanding. At first he just let her cry without saying anything. Knowing that this was too much he retrained from hurrying her.

It took her some time to process it and come to terms with the chaos her life had devolved into. Her voice was tremulous as she tried to control her emotions. Alexshe whispered I dont know what to do. I no longer recognize myself.

Grounding her with his presence Alex put his arms around her and drew her in. She sensed the calm resolve and strength that seemed to emanate from

every touch he gave her. He didnt say meaningless things. He did not advise her to simply put it out of her mind or that everything would work set. I wen that easy he admitted.

He said gently in a steady reassuring voice You dont have to figure it all out right now. I am available to you. Together we are in this. But a ye realize something. You dont need to be the person Liam portrayed you as. Being the woman he erased is not a requirement for you.

For a moment Ava held on to him allowing the warmth of his embrace to fill the void inside of her. She kept thinking about what he said. Being the women he erased is not a requirement for you. With the thought sowing a seed of hope deep within her she closed her eyes. However it also frightened ivez

The idea of beginning anew and changing into a different person was intimidating. Could she be someone else? What if she was unable to take back her own life? Alexs hand rested lightly on her cheek as he drew back just enough to see her face. His eyes were gentle and sincere as he looked at bet

Its time for you to have a new personality Avahe said in a firm yet kind voice. You have a fresh start. You are no longer required to live in the shadow of

your former self. You are now able to take the first step.

At first the thought seemed unthinkable but as he spoke something within her shifted. Perhaps she needed this opportunity. Perhaps she could take back her identity in this way. Although the path ahead was uncertain there was no need to be afraid. She no longer needed to be the victim.

Her past didnt have to define who she was. Ava nodded slowly her heart brimming with a cautious sense of resolve despite her mind racing, She was

capable. She was able to initiate contact.

Although it would be difficult it was feasible. She could rebuild herself because she was strong enough.
