“You haven’t caused me enough trouble already?

“Today’s the day I get promoted to global brand ambassador. Try stirring up drama and see what happens!”
Venus did not even glance at him and took a seat beside Darcy at the main table.
Rayne sneered. “Sitting at the main table now, huh? Must be nice basking in Darcy’s glow.”
Darcy frowned, his tone sharp. “Ms. Burn is an honored guest invited by the brand. Is this how you treat a guest as the ambassador?”
Rayne almost burst out laughing. “Her? A guest? Does she even know what brand this is?
“Without you, Darcy, she wouldn’t even get through the hotel doors. Guest? Don’t make me laugh.”
Venus looked at him calmly. “Don’t make me hit you in front of all these people.”
Rayne shut up immediately.
Unbidden, the memory of being beaten up by her flashed through his mind, and he instinctively stepped back two paces.
“I-I’m just warning you, don’t pull the same stunt you did at the studio last time. I won’t let it slide again!”
After his warning, Rayne went back to his seat.
“Rayne, what did you say to Venus?” Bree asked curiously.
Rayne snorted. “Nothing. Just told her not to cause trouble. Look at her, too scared to say a word.”
“Lumi!” a sweet voice suddenly called out.
Lumi turned around and saw that it was Sophia.
“Sophia! I heard you fell into the water and got sick a few days ago. Are you feeling better now?”
Sophia beamed. “I’m fine now! Just a mild case of pneumonia. My dad said you’d be here today, so I came right away. Oh, and I have to thank Neil for saving me!
“This is a new bag that hasn’t been released yet-one for you and one for Bree!”

Sophia cheerfully handed each of them a designer bag.
Bree’s eyes lit up. “Ah! I love this bag so much! Thank you, Sophia!”
Sophia smiled. “I’m glad you like it. There’ll be more new releases later. If you see something you like, tell me, I’ll get it for you!”
She turned to Rayne. “And congrats to you too, Rayne! Our brand’s new global ambassador! You’re the only one!”
Rayne laughed. “Your company’s got great taste! I’ll live up to the title.” Then, glancing at Venus, he smirked. “Does she even have an invitation? I’m pretty sure high-end events like this don’t let guests in without one, even as plus-ones.”
Sophia looked over at Venus, her expression souring. “Venus? What’s someone like her doing here? Sitting next to Darcy, no less?”
Rayne gave a knowing look. “Guess she didn’t have an invite after all. Darcy must’ve brought her in.”
Lumi said, “Venus hasn’t been to this kind of event before. It’s good for her to broaden her horizons.”
Sophia’s face darkened. “I won’t allow someone like her to attend. She’s dragging down the quality of the whole event. Who does she think she is?”
Lifting her gown, Sophia marched toward the main table, clearly ready to pick a fight.
“Don’t go, Sophia. Let her keep a bit of dignity.” Lumi tried to stop her, but Bree grabbed her
arm.
“Lumi, just let Sophia go. She’s the host, so she has every right to decide whether Venus stays or not,” Bree said smugly. “Sophia’s outnumbered; I’ll back her up!”
Then, Bree followed after her.
Sophia stormed up to the table.
Darcy smiled politely. “Sophia, feeling better?”
Sophia folded her arms. “Darcy, why would you bring her to this event?”
Darcy’s smile froze. “Her? What do you mean by that?
“Are you talking about Ms. Oracle?”
