THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW
Chapter 270 The Gate
Grace’s heart hammered in her chest as the shadows loomed closer. “They’re not living things…” she muttered in a panicked daze. “They’re…” Her voice faltered when she saw Jude opening the door and stepping out. “JUDE, WAIT, NO!” she screamed.
“Stay in the car,” Jude firmly ordered, but there was no hesitation in his movements as he exited the vehicle.
Grace’s panic exploded. “NO! I SAID THEY’RE NOT LIVING THINGS! DON’T GO. PLEASE!!” Her hands shook as she grabbed his arm, but Jude gently pried her fingers off.
“Grace, it’s okay,” his voice softened, but there was an edge of finality. He guided her into the driver’s seat, leaning down to press a quick, reassuring kiss to her lips. “Drive into the territory. Don’t look back.’
Her breath caught in her throat. Something was terribly wrong. Slowly, she turned her head to glance over her shoulder, and froze. Three more shadows had appeared behind the car, closing in with unnatural speed.
Jude slammed the car door shut with lightning speed, drawing all the shadows toward him. Grace’s stomach dropped as she realized what he was doing, he was sacrificing himself to give her a chance to escape.
The shadows moved faster now, closing in on him, and for a moment, Grace felt as if her heart had stopped. Without thinking, she flung open the car door and bolted toward him.
“Grace!” Jude shouted, his voice hoarse with urgency. “GET IN, NOW!”
“No!” she cried, standing by his side, facing the shadows with defiance. “We leave together or not at all.” She slid her hand into his, locking their fingers tight as the shadows surged forward from all directions. “If we die here, we die together.”
Jude’s eyes locked onto hers and despite the grimness of the situation he smiled, a bittersweet smile. In that moment, despite everything, he was grateful. Grateful for this bond. Grateful for her.
But he couldn’t let her die. Not like this.
With a low growl, he yanked his hand away and shifted. His body twisted and contorted as his wolf took over, his powerful form blocking Grace from the oncoming shadows. His fur bristled, and he bared his teeth, ready to defend her with everything he had.
“JUDE!” Grace screamed, watching helplessly as the shadows closed in on her mate. She felt the air grow colder, the tension unbearable.
Just as one of the shadows lunged at Jude, a figure appeared in front of them. The shadow stopped short, retreating in a blur of speed. Another shadow screeched in rage,

but before it could strike, it too was forced back. One by one, the shadows shrieked and crawled back into the darkness, retreating with terrifying speed, leaving behind only the silence of the woods.
Jude paused, his body trembling from the effort, while Grace gasped when she recognized the figure in front of them.
“Alpha Ronan,” she whispered in disbelief, her voice trembling as relief and confusion mixed together.
Jude shifted back into his human form, his eyes wide not just with surprise at Ronan’s sudden appearance, but because of the overwhelming aura Ronan exuded, the undeniable presence of a Lycan. A King.
“Alpha Ronan, you really came!” Grace exclaimed, her voice full of relief.
Jude glanced at her, confusion flashing across his features. “Did you call him?”
Grace shook her head, her fingers instinctively moving to the ring on her finger. “I think he sensed me. This ring,” she said, showing him the beautiful man’s ring. “Alpha Ronan gave it to me before the Save the Crown trial. He said it would help him find me when I had the answers for him.”
Grace stepped closer to Ronan, her eyes meeting his. “Thank you for trusting me, Alpha Ronan,” she said quietly, handing him the ring. “I–I remember where I’d seen Alpha Ryker before.”
Ronan’s wolf growled deep in his mind, sensing the gravity of her words. Where?
Grace opened her diary and handed it to him. Inside were photos and notes, and Ronan’s gaze immediately focused on a page. His hands froze as he flipped to the photo of Ryker. The image wasn’t just printed, it was carved in stone.
The year beside the photo was clearly marked, and when Ronan read it, his entire world tilted.
Time itself seemed to freeze. Ronan’s surroundings, including Jude and Grace, were suspended in stillness, as if reality itself had come to a halt. He couldn’t pull his gaze away from the diary.
That’s when a sudden flicker of blue light caught his attention, a massive fireball–like object, swirling like a monster opening its mouth. Ronan’s eyes narrowed. There, standing on the other side of it, was Finn.
The gate he opened did not seem like a normal gate. Instead it looked like a gate of…hell. Screamings and cries coming from the gate.
The gate between them had opened completely, and Finn’s piercing eyes locked onto
Ronan’s. A silence stretched between them as Ronan realized such a gate could be opened only by…a devil.
“Where is Seraphina? Shouldn’t she be with you?” Finn’s voice carried a sense of
urgency.
Ronan frowned, an uneasy feeling growing in his chest. “She’s in the Blackpine Forest. Why do you ask?”
