Chapter 271 The Cruse
THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW
“Silas, something is happening in the clearing of the Blackpine Forest!” Theo rushed into the ruins, panic clear in his voice. He had been watching the forest from a distance, but the moment he entered the ruins, he could no longer feel Silas‘ presence anywhere. “He had been going crazy after meeting with Aran and studying the bloodline curtain like an obsessed beast. Now, where did he go?”
Unbeknownst to Theo, Silas was already deep within the ruins of the once–proud Lupine Academy, now reduced to little more than debris. The bloodline curtain was tightly clutched in his fists, his grip nearly bruising the material as he strained to understand its secrets. No matter how hard he tried to peer through the bloodline, the dark energy curling around it was causing excruciating pain, injuring his inner powers. His body was failing him, his energy dangerously low, and yet he couldn’t stop. He had to find out.
His steps were frantic, and he threw debris aside with his powers, his movements desperate and urgent. He finally reached the room he’d been searching for, the Moonstone Chamber.
The chamber’s large door was destroyed, the walls nearly collapsed, but the Moonstone still hung suspended from the barely–standing ceiling. Silas‘ fists trembled as he moved closer, each step heavier than the last.
“Never thought I’d come to this stone, but to confirms my suspicion…” he murmured under his breath, raising the bloodline curtain towards the Moonstone. His voice faltered as he continued, “I have to figure out this bloodline.”
With a trembling hand, he let go of the curtain, and it hung just beneath the Moonstone. The moment its light flashed against the stone, the darkness that had been clinging to the bloodline mark began to fade away.
Silas‘ heartbeat quickened as he watched, his eyes wild with desperation. The bloodline mark slowly became clearer, and then, suddenly, it was fully visible. The sight filled him with a horror so deep it froze him in place. His eyes widened in shock, and his body went rigid as the bloodline he thought had been erased from existence revealed itself in front of him. The most evil bloodline.
“No…” he gasped, his breath caught in his chest as he recalled what he had forgotten. He felt his grip on reality slipping, and his mind began to crack under the weight of the revelation. “It’s him…Ryker Wraithe,” he whispered in horrified disbelief. His thoughts spiraled out of control, and for a moment he forgot to breathe, his entire body was consumed with panic.
Before he could process the weight of it, his body reacted instinctively. “I have to go to her…I have to…tell her,” he repeated to himself, as if saying it would make it true. His feet moved before his mind could catch up, and he bolted out of the Academy like a wild animal, his face pale with fear. His powers were slipping from his control, his focus shattered.
He raced towards the Blackpine Forest, dread sinking deeper with each step. Only just as he was about to enter the woods an invisible force slammed into him sending him crashing to the ground.
The impact was violent. His body slammed against the earth, and he rolled painfully, his injuries severe. Groaning, Silas pushed himself to sit up, his vision blurry only having his nose and ears bleed from the scream deafening the entire Blackpine Forest.
Shaken by the familiar, horrific scream, Silas glanced toward the forest. His heart dropped as his eyes landed on Seraphina, hovering in mid–air, her hair flowing wildly around her, glowing with golden and white energy. The petal mark on her brow had fully bloomed into the blood petal.
“No…” Silas‘ breath caught in his throat as the horrifying truth sank in. He was too late. “She turned twenty-
one.”
His eyes widened in shock as he witnessed the golden–white aura surrounding Seraphina, spreading across the clearing like a blinding wave. That was when Asher’s voice cut through the chaos from behind him.
“Now the curse of immortality has been lifted off you and your people?”

Silas spun around sharply, his eyes wide. “H–how did you know?” But then it hit him, Asher had captured Lycan King Ronan’s skilled wizard. The old wizard could find things from even a single strand of hair.
Asher advanced slowly, his gaze steady and piercing. “You were immortal just a moment ago, yet you never told Seraphina the truth that only you knew. Why?” His tone was calm, but there was an edge to it, a challenge. “Why did you let things get to this point, where everyone she loves is now trapped in that clearing, turning into her enemies?”
He stepped closer, his voice growing more intense, his words cutting deeper. “Why did you want to cage her in those ruins so badly? Why separate her from Ronan? Why?!”
Silas’s chest heaved as he shouted, his voice raw with emotion. “Because she is never supposed to fall in love!”
Asher paused, taken aback by the force of Silas’s words. “What?”
Silas breathed heavily, his mind unraveling with the weight of his secrets. “Do you know what the Blood Petal is?” he asked, his voice trembling with a mixture of anguish and desperation.
