THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW
NINE HUNDRED YEARS AGO
When the Goddess cried from heartbreak, a single tear fell to the earth, and where it landed, a beautiful white flower bloomed. As the flower opened, a baby with striking red eyes and a petal mark between her brows lay among the petals. Since she was born from the petals, she was named Blood Petal.
Years later, having grown into a woman in her twenties, she sat by a waterfall gazing at her reflection in the surface of the water, her fingers dancing lightly over the surface before she swiftly snatched a large fish from the stream.
“I caught it!” she exclaimed, proudly holding the fish up as she beamed at the man standing beneath the cave’s overhang. “I won! And this time, five seconds earlier!”
The man smirked, an amused glint in his sharp eyes. With a simple flick of his hand, he made all the fish leap out of the water and swim toward him. “I don’t think so, he said quietly, watching her with a knowing smile.
She stood up, fists clenched in mock anger. “You cheated!”
“Cheated?” His voice was calm, but the challenge was clear in his eyes. “There were still five seconds left in the minute. You have five fish, and I have fifty. Now, explain to me how I cheated?”
She crossed her arms, her gaze icy. “You should be using your hands, like I do. Not your powers!”
The corner of his lips lifted into a teasing smile. “Then why don’t you use your powers, too?”
She froze for a moment, her expression shifting before she responded smoothly, “I don’t have any powers. And even if I did, I wouldn’t cheat like you always do. You never play fair.”
“Everything is fair in love and war,” he replied with a grin that only made his lips look more handsome. “Go home. You’ve been trying to defeat me for two years and lose every time. Learn your lesson and go home or your daddy, Silas, will come looking for you.”
She pursed her lips, glaring at him. She met him first when she turned eighteen. She gave little to nothing information about herself but now she regretted telling him about Silas, “You act like you know everything. One day, I’ll defeat you, and I’ll make you show me your face!” she declared with a smirk.
She gathered the four fish she had caught and turned to walk away.
“Hey,” he called after her, his voice laced with amusement. “You lost the bet.”
She turned back, narrowing her eyes. “You have so many fish, yet you always set your eyes on mine.”
“Yours look delicious,” he replied, his smile widening.
Sighing, she left one of the larger fish by the waterfall as part of the bet. “Happy, now?” she asked sharply, continuing her walk. “And he’s not my daddy. He’s just a bother.”
With that, she entered the woods, her figure disappearing into the trees.
The man stood there, watching her vanish, a faint smile curling at the corners of his lips. His beautiful eyes lingered on her slender back as he whispered to himself. I’m waiting for that day.”
Running through the woods, Petal made it back to the temple just before sunset, to find a young boy waiting for her by the door.
“Hey, Petal, where have you been? Silas has been looking for you everywhere for a long time. I had to keep out of sight so he thought we were together,” Theo said, his grin widening.
“Thanks, you’re always a great help. Theo,” Petal smiled at him.

Theo puffed out his chest in pride. “I know. By the way… His eyes fell on the fish she was holding, and he quickly bit his tongue, “Wait, did you go to the waterfall outside again?”
Petal sighed, handing him the fish. “Yes. So, hide it or cook it. Do whatever you want, but don’t let Silas find out,” she said, rubbing a flower in her palm to rid her hands of the fish’s smell. “Also, I don’t understand why you cage my rabbit again?” she frowned and set it free, “Don’t cage him again. Let Rob enjoy his freedom.”
“Petal, you escape, but you’re gonna get me killed by Silas! Why do you keep going to that waterfall? It’s outside Blackpine Forest, and it’s dangerous! ghosts live there!” Theo protested.
“There are no ghosts. Don’t believe everything Silas says. There’s a man who lives there,” Petal shrugged, unbothered.
Theo rolled his eyes. “Yeah, a man who lives in a cave under the waterfall and only shows himself to you,” he repeated, mimicking what Petal had always said about the mysterious figure, though no one else believed it.
Petal stopped trying to make anyone believe long ago.
She went down the rarely–used path leading to the temple’s inner corridors, slipping away from sight.
“So, what does he look like?” Theo asked, matching her speed.
“I don’t know,”
Theo’s eyes widened, “How is that possible?”
She shrugged her shoulders, “I can just see the lower half of his face sometimes, his eyes sometimes but due to the waterfall, everything is very unclear.”
Theo was so confused. “Then what is his name?”
“I don’t know yet, but the day I win the bet, I’ll find out,” Petal smiled as she entered her bedroom, then went straight into the bathroom with her clothes in hand.
Theo stopped in his tracks, his eyes wide with shock. “Goddess, this girl…does not even know his name and goes to meet him routinely…” He quickly ran after her, shouting, “Petal, what if he’s really a ghost?” his words were cut off when the Silas stepped in the room.
“Theo,” Silas said sternly, “How many times do I have to tell you? You’re not allowed in Petal’s bedroom.”
“But she says it’s fine,” Theo argued.
“No, it’s not fine. You’re not kids anymore. You’re a freaking adult now,” Silas replied, pushing him out of the bedroom. “A man and a woman shouldn’t be in the room alone,” he added, his gaze hardening as he watched Theo’s frown deepen. “She’s the Goddess and we are just her protectors. Let’s not cross the line, even though she calls you a friend or sees us as equals. That’s her kindness, but we must always remember our place.”
Theo pursed his lips, giving a reluctant nod.
Silas‘ attention shifted. “By the way, what were you saying earlier about ghost-”
The bathroom door opened, and Petal emerged, wearing a neat and clean white gown, her presence filling the room with a quiet grace. Silas paused mid–sentence, his gaze briefly lingering on her.
“I’ve been waiting for you. Where have you been?” Silas asked, handing her a cup of water.
“I went to Elysium Haven,” she calmly lied.
Silas exhaled sharply. “You spent nearly the entire day building that place, sometimes many days, even though I offered you our help.”
Chapter 273 The Blood Petal
She smiled, turning toward the window. Her gaze drifted to the heart of the Blackpine Forest. “Elysium Haven is a sanctuary where a woman are nurtured, empowered, and raised to her fullest potential. A divine place meant for growth and enlightenment. I don’t need anyone’s help with it.”
Petal had been only ten when she laid the first brick of Elysium Haven, after a young girl had begged her for refuge, only to die shortly after from starvation and abuse. That day, Petal made a vow to create a place where no woman would have to suffer or die because she was too weak, too vulnerable, or too abused.
Now, every woman who escaped hardship or found herself in need sought shelter in the Blackpine Forest. Petal welcomed them into Elysium Haven, a sanctuary built by women, for women. The place was almost complete, ten years of her life poured into its creation. A place where no man was allowed, even if they were her protectors.
“Why were you looking for me?” she asked, turning back to Silas.
“Two people stumbled upon our doors. Following your orders, I took them in. The woman’s condition is serious. They are waiting,” Silas informed her.
Even though the temple was surrounded by thick forests and nearly impossible to find, sometimes the people who got lost would end up there. And Petal always helped the people in need when they stumbled on her door.
“Who are they this time?” she asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice. It had been nearly a year since someone ended up at the temple.
“Vampires,” Silas replied.
Petal set the water aside and stood up. “Let’s go.”
