His hands framed her face, his body just inches away from hers. The proximity made her pulse quicken, her breath hitching. He leaned in, their faces almost touching. “You make me complete, Petal,” he whispered, brushing his lips against hers. “Without you…I will die.”
The weight of his confession crashed over her like a wave, and her heart no longer listened to the warnings in her mind. Slowly, she closed her eyes, surrendering to the heat of the moment. Before she knew it, her lips responded to his, meeting him in a kiss.
He deepened it immediately, the kiss hungry, filled with longing. He wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling her closer, lifting her effortlessly as he crossed the room with her in his arms. Their lips never parted, the kiss growing more intense with every passing second. When he pressed her against the wall, Petal felt a rush of heat flood through her body, an overwhelming craving that she couldn’t control.
His lips explored hers, tasting, searching for something deeper. His tongue brushed against hers in a rhythmic dance. She felt dizzy, disoriented by the storm of emotions rushing through her. Her breath came in shallow gasps as he kissed her, worshipped her, until she was breathless and completely lost in him.
Her hands gripped his shoulders, trying to steady herself, but nothing could anchor her to reality. Only him. Only this moment.
Everything outside of the room, outside of them, faded into nothingness. There was only
him.
Petal stared into his eyes, feeling the intensity of his gaze. His lycan side was so real now, his hunger for her visible in every glance, yet he remained in control, restraining himself, though just barely.
“How did you know my name?” she asked, her voice a little shakier than she intended.
He lowered his head, brushing his lips over her petal mark as he whispered, “This beautiful petal gave it away.”
A flush crept up her cheeks, and she found it difficult to keep looking into his eyes. The connection between them was undeniable, overwhelming. “But I don’t know your name,” she said softly.
He tilted his head, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “No longer planning to defeat me in the fishing game to learn my name?”
She felt a surge of embarrassment but couldn’t deny the underlying truth, both of them had used that game as an excuse to spend more time together, to learn about each other. “You would cheat, so I won’t waste my time,” she replied, her voice teasing, controlling a smile as she tried to move out of his grasp.
But he wasn’t having any of it. His grip tightened, pulling her back with ease, his eyes darkening. “It’s Dread Lord,” he said, his voice low and commanding.
