The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 132

Once seated, Mrs. Sherwood asked, "Are those your people?"

Juno pointed at Claire at the same table.

Mrs. Sherwood: "That's it?"

Juno hadn't asked Chuck Yates to come, and after thinking it over, she really couldn't remember anyone else. Her memory wasn't the best. "That's it."

Mrs. Sherwood went dead silent.

Juno checked the time. Yeah, that was everyone.

She hadn't invited many to begin with, having never cared much about birthdays anyway.

Rhiannon sauntered over, hips swaying. "Are all your friends here? The food is almost ready. Why don't we say a few words and start eating? My guests have been waiting all night."

Juno shot her a sideways glance. "Are you telling me what to do?"

Rhiannon offered a polite, diplomatic smile. "Of course not."

"Juno!"

Hearing the voice, Juno turned to see Mrs. Dempsey walking in with her daughter, Janet.

That single call made several people look toward the door. Quite a few perked up in interest—the Mayor's wife.

Mrs. Dempsey acted like an old friend. "I saw you right from the door. What is wrong with you, child?"

Juno narrowed her eyes and walked over.

Were she and the Mayor's wife really that close?

Mrs. Dempsey pulled Janet forward, patting her daughter. "Say hello."

Janet was very polite, hiding any dissatisfaction. "Hi, Juno."

Mrs. Dempsey continued, "Remember that jewelry set you gave me? It gave me so much face. Yet you didn't even invite me to your birthday today. I had to crash the party—you don't blame me, do you?"

Juno gave a tight, polite smile. "Of course not."

"Then I can relax."

Mrs. Dempsey pulled Janet along to find a seat, casually greeting various tycoons along the way.

Juno had no idea why she was so thrilled. She simply said, "No one else."

This time, she was sure.

Please, no one else.

The place was chaotic enough as it was.

Rhiannon walked over. "I didn't expect you to be so secretive. To think the Mayor's wife came today—I'm truly shocked."

For a long time after that, no one else arrived. The people observing Juno felt they had seen enough, and a few idly chatted out of boredom.

"Looks like that's everyone. Still, Juno has really blown my mind."

"Aside from the Mayor's wife, those other few represent rising powers. Give it time, and they might reach the same heights as us."

Just as they were talking, a sudden gasp ripped through the crowd.

Some looked toward the entrance in confusion.

Leading the pack was the financial titan himself, Morgan.
