Mrs. Dempsey quickly stepped in to smooth over the suffocating tension. "The Corrington family really came out of nowhere and shocked us all this time! By the way, Gwendolyn, do you happen to have access to Jumer's second batch? Do you think I could possibly purchase a set through you?"
Gwendolyn's voice was tight but polite. "I can't make any guarantees."
She could see exactly how brutally successful the Corrington family's marketing had been. Jumer's name already carried immense commercial weight, and combined with their aggressive follow-up campaigns, the Corringtons were absolutely crushing the Jagger family this quarter.
If even the Jaggers were saying there was no guarantee, it meant the jewelry was effectively impossible to get.
After dinner, the guests began presenting their gifts.
Being wealthy elites, most of the gifts were predictably lavish but uninspired trinkets, which Mrs. Dempsey politely accepted and thanked them for.
When it was Rhiannon's turn, she made a show of unwrapping her gift right there. "Wishing you a very happy birthday, Mrs. Dempsey."
As the gift was revealed, gasps rippled through the crowd.
"It's a painting by Cyan!"
Cyan's artwork was famously impossible to acquire, regardless of how much money one had. Nobody expected to see an original piece here!
Chuck cast a fleeting glance at Juno but remained silent.
"Rhiannon, you've truly outdone yourself."
"As long as you like it, Mrs. Dempsey," Rhiannon replied with textbook modesty.
Soon, it was Juno's turn. She took a box from Miles and handed it to the mayor's wife with both hands.
The box remained firmly shut.
"You can open this when you get home, Mrs. Dempsey."
Mrs. Dempsey smiled warmly. "Thank you, I will."
Sienna Langley instantly sneered. "Everyone else presented their gifts open. Only Ms. Mercer is keeping hers a secret. Could it be that she's gifting something too cheap to show in public?"
She had never seen a presentation box crafted with such meticulous perfection.
Chuck knew Juno's methods. From the conception of a product to its final sale, the one thing she obsessed over was quality control.
Quality control meant absolute supremacy over the product.
Every single step of the Corrington family's new release had been personally overseen by Juno.
Not a single brand operating under Juno's watchful eye had ever suffered a drop in quality.
Other companies might face bankruptcy over defective manufacturing, but not hers.
Every eye in the room was locked onto the table.
Mrs. Dempsey popped the lid. The design was so wildly ingenious that the box alone could have been auctioned as a collector's item.
The second it opened, someone in the crowd shrieked, "That's Jumer's unreleased second collection!!!"
