The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 339

Gwendolyn turned to Harrison, offering gentle reassurance. "Try not to worry too much. My brothers are coming over this afternoon. We'll weather this storm."

Gordon Corrington looked at her with sincere gratitude. "We're really burdening you this time, Gwendolyn."

"Oh, stop it. We're family, there's no need for that kind of talk. Let's just focus on our next move."

With the massive financial backing of the Jagger family, the Corringtons' crumbling empire finally started to stabilize around the end of the holiday season, allowing everyone to finally exhale.

Taking the opportunity, Mrs. Sherwood paid a visit.

She arrived carrying an armful of gifts. "Is Juno not home?"

A maid hurried over to take the bags while Gwendolyn replied, "No, she's not. But she should be flying back in the next day or two."

Without missing a beat, Mrs. Sherwood changed into house slippers and followed Gwendolyn into the living room. "I stopped by a few times over the past couple of weeks, but the house was always empty. I figured you were buried under a mountain of stress, so I didn't want to text and bother you."

Gwendolyn guided her to the plush leather sofa. "How could you ever be a bother? Given how close our families are, there's no need to be so formal."

"So, how are things now? Any improvement?"

She honestly hadn't expected one negative scandal to trigger such a catastrophic domino effect.

"It's much better than before. But when you get right down to it, this is our own fault."

Mrs. Sherwood patted her hand comfortingly. "What parents don't want the best for their child? Don't beat yourself up over it. This will all blow over eventually."

Gwendolyn let out a heavy sigh, unable to relax despite the comforting words. "I just hope Juno delays her flight back a little longer. Knowing her personality, she'll dive headfirst into this mess."

Other wealthy heirs just enjoyed their luxurious lives, but Juno was constantly forced to clean up their disasters over and over again.

Mrs. Sherwood seemed lost in thought. She picked up her tea and took a slow sip. Her hair was elegantly pinned up with pearl accessories, making her look both youthful and incredibly distinguished. "There's a society wives' gathering tomorrow night. I think it would be beneficial for you to attend."

"You know how things are right now. I'd really rather not show my face."
