The man's features were chiseled to absolute perfection. With sharp, striking eyebrows and piercing eyes, his jawline looked like it had been carved from marble. The flawlessly tailored suit hugged his broad shoulders and narrow, athletic waist.
"Ahhhhh! I bet he's amazing in bed! Look at those shoulders! And that jawline, my god!"
Rhiannon unconsciously swallowed hard. He was breathtakingly handsome. It was as if God had handcrafted his magnum opus. Drawn by an invisible, magnetic pull, she found herself walking slowly toward him.
From the second-floor balcony, Juno had a perfect view of the entire floor. She had originally been tracking Rhiannon, but her gaze slipped—and landed squarely on the man.
Her pupils contracted violently. A dull, agonizing ache seized her heart.
Chuck Yates.
Fragmented memories flashed through her mind like shards of glass. Everything that had happened in Blackwood City.
Watching Rhiannon drift closer and closer to him, Juno smoothly raised the recurve bow in her hand. Her long, slender fingers notched an arrow, the razor-sharp tip locking directly onto the girl below.
Rhiannon kept walking. Juno drew the string all the way back to her cheek, the tension immense. Then, she released.
Thwack!
The carbon-fiber arrow tore through the air, slicing past Rhiannon's cheek by a fraction of a millimeter before burying itself deep into the wooden pillar beside her.
Rhiannon snapped out of her daze only when Sienna started screaming. She felt a warm trickle on her face. Raising a trembling hand, her fingers came away coated in bright red blood. Panic exploded in her chest as she looked up.
The violent impact drew everyone's attention.
Instantly, Juno became the center of a hundred staring eyes. She stood at the edge of the balcony, her expression dark and unreadable, still gripping the heavy bow.
Chuck slowly lifted his gaze. Their eyes collided in the dead air.
With the entire club watching, Juno calmly descended the stairs.
Seeing right through Rhiannon's pathetic little crush, Juno's voice dropped to a glacial chill. "You're not good enough for him."
Ignoring the throbbing pain, Rhiannon scoffed in pure disbelief. "I'm not good enough? Then who is? You?"
She practically laughed out loud. The sheer delusion of her!
Juno didn't say a word. She just stared at her with a dead, unblinking intensity that made Rhiannon's blood run cold.
Realizing the standoff was going nowhere, Sienna quickly intervened. "Rhiannon, we need to get that cleaned up. Your face is too important to risk."
They could fight later. The priority was preventing a scar. Gritting her teeth, Rhiannon forced out a single word. "Fine!"
Once the two of them hurried off, Chuck slowly stood up. His rich, magnetic voice broke the silence. "What's your name?"
Juno looked up, meeting his intense gaze. With absolute sincerity, her voice softened into a gentle, melodic hum. "I'm Juno Mercer, as in... fierce and untamed."
