Whether she actually listened to him or not was anyone's guess.
After that, Chuck didn't bring it up again.
That night.
Juno sat on her bed while Morgan stood dutifully by her side.
"I think he's mad at me."
Morgan concurred, "I believe so."
"So what do I do?"
"Behave yourself."
Morgan and Chuck were entirely on the same page when it came to this matter.
Having already witnessed Juno die once, they refused to let history repeat itself.
Juno rested her chin in her hands, rejecting the idea. "Those bastards from the Yates family are getting way too arrogant. I'm itching to deal with them."
Morgan stated coldly, "That has nothing to do with you."
No matter how far the Yates family went, their target was Chuck.
Juno shot him a look, recalling the memory. "When I remember how their men put fifteen bullets in me, I want to slice them into a thousand pieces."
Morgan's grip on his cane tightened, a murderous glint flashing across his stoic face. "They won't get away with it."
It just wasn't the right time yet.
What sinister motives could little Juno possibly have?
She just wanted to talk Morgan into letting her team up with Chuck to take them down.
Juno was quite satisfied with Morgan's reaction.
However, Morgan quickly dashed her hopes. "For now, you should be a good girl and focus on your classes. With your current physical state, you couldn't even win a fight against my fingernail."
Juno: ?
The absolute audacity!
"So, how am I supposed to apologize to him?"
She had never actually done something like this before.
Morgan kept his mouth shut, offering zero help.
Eventually, it was Rhoda Sloane who gave Juno a text to send, insisting with absolute certainty, "Send this! I promise he won't be mad! Trust me!"
Without even reading it, Juno forwarded the message straight to Chuck.
[What do you say to a duck who makes a mistake? I'm quacking sorry!]
Chuck replied almost instantly:
Annoyed while sitting in class, Juno held her phone at a terrible angle, snapped a random picture, and hit send.
When Rhoda opened the photo, the joy instantly froze on her face.
Juno was gorgeous—flawless from 360 degrees.
Yet, somehow, her selfie managed to find that impossible 361st degree that made her look absolutely ridiculous.
At noon, Gerda showed up directly at the campus.
From the moment she stepped foot on the grounds, Gerda looked thoroughly displeased. Her expression only softened a fraction when she finally saw Juno.
Juno brought Gerda to her dorm. "What brings you here, Grandma? You could've just called."
Gerda didn't bother hiding her disdain for the surroundings. "I heard some things while having tea with my friends a couple of days ago."
Juno raised an eyebrow.
"What they said isn't important. The point is, those people constantly compare you to that outsider."
The 'outsider' was, of course, Rhiannon.
"Does that really bother you, Grandma?" Juno smiled faintly.
"I let you make all the decisions. You didn't want to change your last name? Fine. You didn't want a welcome banquet? Fine. You didn't want to publicly announce you're the true Corrington heir? I kept my mouth shut. But these people are taking a mile when they're given an inch, parading around claiming you're inferior to Rhiannon. Juno, it makes my blood boil."
"And to find out from someone else's mouth that you're enrolled in some community college? Absolutely not. You belong at Northbridge University. I know you have what it takes."
