Sophia felt her head buzzing.
Riley listened to the assistant’s words, her expression unchanged.
She gave a soft nod, raised an eyebrow almost imperceptibly, and then calmly told them to leave the dress and accessories in the corner of the living room.
“Thank you,” she said politely–no flaunting or triumph.
But that calm, effortless demeanor, to Sophia, was more sharp and infuriating than any insult.
Sophia was green with envy.
She stared at the moon–white fishtail dress, carefully placed in the corner. The more she looked at it, the more it bothered her.
The fishtail dress had a sleek, flowing cut–simple, but not plain. Every inch of fabric seemed to hold understated luxury.
It complemented Riley’s cool elegance perfectly.
Her gwn dress–borrowed from a top brand, ornate and elaborate–suddenly looked heavy and gaudy, like it was screaming for
attention.
The dress she thought would outshine everyone else’s now looked almost cheap.
