After a smooth fifteen-hour flight, they finally touched down in the Capital at nine o'clock in the morning. Despite the grueling length of the journey, Felicia did not feel fatigued in the slightest. Exiting the terminal, a fleet of waiting vehicles was already lined up on the tarmac. An hour later, the cars smoothly pulled into the grand driveway of Oakridge Estate.

Anne was supposed to be at school today, but she had excitedly demanded the day off just to wait for her mother's return. Willa had stayed back to keep her company.

Bursting out the front doors, Anne saw her father helping her mother out of the car. "Mommy!" she screamed, her voice vibrating with pure, unadulterated joy.

Felicia's heart gave a violent tremor. Anne was even more breathtakingly adorable in person than she had been in Max's photos or Felicia's own fragmented dreams. This was her daughter.

Anne scrambled down the steps and launched herself forward, preparing to tackle her mother in a fierce hug.

"Careful, Anne, don't bump into Mom," Max swiftly intervened, catching the little girl.

Anne froze, her big, bright eyes blinking in momentary confusion before a sudden realization dawned on her. She gasped loudly. "Mom has a baby in her tummy, doesn't she?"

Max smiled warmly and took her small hand. "Alright, let's head inside first."

Anne eagerly reached out to hold her mother's other hand. Together, the three of them ascended the steps. Felicia glanced up and noticed Willa standing by the door.

Max chuckled. "Alright, I will listen to Mom from now on."
