Max set his phone down, rested his hand on his mouse, and opened his email to find the files Gavin had mentioned.

At six o'clock that evening, Max attended a private reception. He arrived early, finding the banquet hall relatively empty. The host, a senior figure in the investment and finance circle, immediately stepped forward to greet him, genuinely surprised that Max had actually accepted the invitation to this intimate gathering.

"I heard Jeffrey might be attending tonight," Luke replied.

"What do you want to talk to him about?" Max asked.

Luke fell silent for a long moment before finally speaking. "Willa went back to the Manning family."

Max furrowed his brows slightly. "She went back on her own?"

Luke nodded in agreement. Max casually checked with the host, confirming that an invitation had indeed been extended to Jeffrey, though it remained uncertain if the man would make an appearance. For now, all they could do was wait.

"When will Felicia regain her memory?" Luke asked suddenly.

"We will revisit that after she delivers the baby," Max replied smoothly.

Luke had learned from his mother that Max’a parents had finally compromised and accepted Felicia. It was a good outcome. Anne now had a complete family. The key to untangling Felicia's emotional knots had always been Max, and judging by his current attitude, he would undoubtedly take good care of her moving forward. It seemed that no matter how much they struggled, destiny always found a way to right itself.

About fifteen minutes later, a murmur rippled through the room. Jeffrey had arrived. Luke immediately stood up. His eyes locked onto Jeffrey the moment the man stepped into the banquet hall. Without hesitation, Luke strode toward him, with Max trailing close behind.
