They mostly chatted about his business trip and the deal with the Curtis family.

“With how close Max and Darin are, they might try to meddle later,” Anthony said.

Jeremy took off his glasses, rubbed his brow, then put them back on. His face stayed calm and collected. “Let’s just wait for him to make a move. We’ll handle it then.”

They’d already committed to this path, so Max interfering didn’t really bother them. Now it was just a question of who could outplay the other.

Anthony looked over at Jeremy, then suddenly grinned. “I ran into your uncle at a press conference the other day. He asked if you were dating anyone yet. He’s starting to worry about you. You’re not getting any younger. You can’t stay single forever. Time doesn’t wait for anyone, you know.”

Jeremy shot him a look. “Why don’t you get married first before lecturing me?”

“I could be married tomorrow if I wanted. But tell me, are you waiting for Felicia to get divorced?”

Anthony’s eyes sparkled with gossip.

He’d never picked up on Jeremy’s feelings for Felicia before. The guy had hidden it way too well. Only in the last year or two had he started to notice.

He could feel the way Jeremy looked at Felicia had changed. Guys had a sixth sense for these things.

After Felicia decided to join Roen Capital. Jeremy had acted cool, but Anthony had noticed he was in a surprisingly good mood back then. Even when projects had problems, Jeremy hadn’t made a big deal out of it.

And then there was the cruise gala. Jeremy had brought only Felicia.

Anthony had heard all about it. Felicia and Andrea had gotten into an argument, and Jeremy and Max had looked like they were about to throw punches.

That was definitely not how a boss should treat his employee. It was way over the line.

Jeremy put his glasses back on, his face unreadable. He stood up and walked to his desk. “Do you have anything else?.”

Anthony just got more interested and followed him, leaning against the edge of the desk. “Luke is crazy about Felicia. They’ve known each other since they were kids, and now he’s moved in right across the street from her. Felicia’s parents and Greg all like him. Compared to Luke, what do you really have? Besides being older, I don’t see much.”

He stared at the papers, a cold smile curling at his lips.

He picked up his phone and made a call.

The other end answered quickly. “Mr. Hawthorne.”

“Come to my office.”

A few minutes later, a middle-aged man walked in. It was Paxton, the head of Max’s personal legal team.

“Take a look at this.”

Max handed him the file.

Paxton flipped through it. This new complaint included an extra piece of evidence. It showed that the couple never had a wedding, never lived together as husband and wife, and their families had never mingled. Basically, their marriage had no real foundation from the start. It didn’t even meet the legal definition of a true family built on marriage.
