Ava always liked Heather. She could easily tell what was on Heather’s mind, and honestly, she had zero problems with Heather and Greg getting together.

Heather was Jeremy’s little sister. Even though Heather was a single mom, Ava still felt her son was the lucky one in this match. At last, she could stop worrying about her son’s love life.

Heather nudged Ava. “Go try on the new clothes and show us.”

Ava gave in with a helpless smile and headed off to change.

They’d bought three dresses and two cute jackets, all of them perfect for Ava.

Colton came downstairs just as Ava stepped out.

Heather piped up, “Doesn’t Ava look amazing?”

Colton’s eyes lit up seeing his wife. He didn’t hold back, showering her with compliments. Anne and Yara joined in too, and Ava’s cheeks turned bright red from all the praise.

The living room felt warm and lively, laughter filling every corner.

After a while, Felicia and Heather took the girls upstairs to get them washed up for bed.

Tonight, everyone was having a big sleepover.

Once Yara and Anne were finally asleep, Felicia and Heather settled back against the headboard. Heather glanced at her phone and broke the silence. “Greg and Luke aren’t back yet. Should we call and check in?”

Felicia shook her head. “Luke already called. They’re in Macau.”

Heather’s eyes widened. “Macau? What are they doing all the way there?”

“Brock’s there too. We’ll find out what’s going on once they get back.”

Heather breathed out, trying to reassure herself. “I just hope everything goes okay.”

That night, Felicia barely slept.

Max’s words from earlier kept replaying in her mind, like a heavy stone pressing on her chest, making it hard to breathe.

Anne kicked off her covers in her sleep.

Felicia reached over and gently tucked the blanket back around her. Watching her daughter’s peaceful face, Felicia’s heart felt a little lighter.

Max didn’t waste time. “Come to my office. Ten o’clock tomorrow morning.”

Felicia immediately thought of Northstar Dynamics. They needed to talk about it, whether she liked it or not.

“Fine,” she replied, just as coldly.

She hung up without another word.

The next morning, Max showed up at the house at eight sharp.

Anne and Yara were still at the table, finishing breakfast.
