“You know,” Gavin said, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But honestly, Evelynn just isn’t into you.” He shot a look at Max and added, “Or you, for that matter.”
Max’s eyes landed on Felicia. He gave a slow, cool smile. “Why don’t we let Evelynn tell us herself what kind of guy she likes?”
Holden glanced at Max. There was no hint that he cared about Evelynn, but something about him felt hard to read.
Felicia looked straight at Max. “Men like Holden or Mr. Hawthorne? They don’t do anything for me.”
Gavin raised his eyebrows at Max, looking smug. “Did you catch that?”
Max’s face stayed perfectly still, not giving anything away.
Holden gave a low laugh. “That’s all right. As long as we like her, that’s good enough.”
Felicia’s smile faded.
Just then, Gavin’s phone buzzed. He checked the screen, then said to people around him, “I’d better keep my distance from these two. I have a couple of friends arriving, so I’m going to meet them. Please excuse me.”
The other men just chuckled. “Go ahead.”
Gavin took Felicia’s hand and led her out of the room.
As they walked away, Felicia couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was still watching her, though she had no idea who it was.
After saying a quick goodbye, Max left as well. Holden caught up to him and asked, “You really find her interesting?”
Max kept his eyes forward, his expression cold. “I don’t like repeating myself.”
Holden studied him for a second, then dropped it.
Outside the estate, Jeremy and Luke waited by the entrance. Gavin called ahead to the gate, and soon a shuttle picked them up and brought them inside.
Gavin, who’d been about to lead Felicia away, paused. He could feel Jeremy’s eyes following her.
Everyone glanced up and saw Holden coming closer.
Gavin squeezed Felicia’s hand. “Evelynn, let’s go.”
Felicia looked back at Jeremy and Luke. “I’ll catch up with you later.”
Jeremy nodded. “Go ahead.”
Felicia followed Gavin, moving away before Holden could reach them.
For most of the night, Gavin hardly let her out of his sight. He introduced her to people, pulled her onto the dance floor, and made it look like he was guarding her from the world.
Holden never appeared in front of her again, and Felicia finally let herself relax a little. She couldn’t find Max anywhere in the ballroom either.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max)
Nothing today...
The story starting to feel dragged out. Nothing much is happening anymore and Felicia and Max are getting kinda boring.. it’s just the same cycle over and over again...
I used to like this story but now it draaaaags :( Now it seems like all characters are problematic and toxic (yes, ALL characters). Wish the author will give some warmth/emotion in this story. 700+ chapters and still no highlight, no exciting part, just pure coldness and expressionlessness lol...
Max and felicia really need to figure things out. Either humble max down and get him to respect his wife. Or let felicia be a free woman. Max is so ignorant and egomaniac...
I've reached chapter 104 with a broken heart huhuuhu. This is so heavy, so sad. I know the chapters onwards will be more lighter. Can't wait for the pay back time....
When will this novel get an end It's dragging so much. Just kill max asap. How much should felicia bare. Give her freedom from that max and anne. Anne is so annoying child. I know she wants to patch up her mother and father. But sometimes it's really boring.please finish the novel soon. Everyday we have to check for the chapter updates. For God sake finish it off. How many more chapters are there . You could have make the novel short and sweet. I wish if it was in theatre we could have finish it soon....
I am waiting for the update, thank you uploader we reader enjoying the story...
Finally! The robot Max is turning into a human....
The longer it takes to update chapters, the faster I lose my interest. Time to find another novel to indulge to, I guess....
