Gavin brought her to a famous designer’s studio, the kind where the racks held gowns from a luxury label’s new collection that hadn’t even been released yet.
The designer took one look at Felicia and picked out two dresses that would suit her perfectly.
In the end, Felicia went for a long, blue ombre gown, soft and elegant, with a matching shawl. The skirt was sprinkled with tiny crystals that caught the light, sparkling like sunlight on the ocean.
When Felicia finally stepped out with her hair and makeup done, Gavin was stunned. His eyes went wide, and for a second, he just stared, completely taken aback.
Felicia gave him a soft, gentle smile.
Gavin stood up, smile spreading across his face as he walked over. “Evelynn, do you have any idea what you look like tonight?”
Felicia raised an eyebrow. “What do I look like?”
He grinned even wider. “Like my bride.” He held out his hand, all gentlemanly, waiting for her to take it.
He had picked a suit that matched her dress almost perfectly. His hair was slicked back, showing off his sharp features. When he smiled, his blue eyes were clear and bright, almost like melted ice.
Felicia didn’t take his hand. She just smiled, a little mischievously. “Think I still have time to go change into something else?”
Gavin let out a long, dramatic sigh and lowered his hand, giving her a wounded look. “Ouch. You’re breaking my heart here.”
By five in the afternoon, Felicia was on Gavin’s arm as they arrived at a sprawling estate.
Tonight’s party was hosted by a Wall Street hedge fund giant, and everyone there was part of the city’s inner circle.
Gavin introduced Felicia to the host, then to a few other big names. This was the first time the Keegan family heir had ever brought a date to a party. The way he looked after her, his intentions were impossible to miss.
Max and Holden joined them, exchanging a few polite words. Max chatted easily, but Holden didn’t even try to hide the way he was staring at Felicia.
Gavin shifted, subtly blocking Holden’s view. “Holden, maybe stop staring at my date,” he said, voice light but firm.
Holden smiled, but there was nothing friendly about it. “Your date, Gavin?”
Gavin just raised an eyebrow. “Is there a problem?”
Holden’s gaze slid back to Felicia. “How many girls are you seeing at once, anyway?” He smiled, eyes lingering on her. “So, Evelynn, you’re into Gavin?”
Felicia didn’t respond. She just pretended not to hear him at all.
